Data Scientist
- AI Solution Lead (Freelance/Contract) — Brussels We are looking for a senior Data Scientist / AI Solution Lead to join the Analytics & AI team of a major financial services group based in Brussels, as part of its data transformation strategy. About the mission You will join a Center of Excellence dedicated to Analytics & AI, delivering predictive models, advanced analytics and AI solutions that drive business decisions and create measurable value. The organization is actively strengthening its AI strategy and governance, in line with group standards and regulations such as the EU AI Act. As a senior technical and functional expert, you will lead Data Science and AI use cases end-to-end — from business scoping to deployment and monitoring — while guiding and coaching the team.
Key responsibilities
• Lead Data Science & AI use cases end-to-end: business scoping, value assessment, development, deployment, adoption and performance monitoring
• Challenge business needs, assess feasibility, define success criteria and provide recommendations for prioritization and investment
• Develop or oversee the delivery of advanced analytics, Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions
• Coordinate across business, Data and IT teams; manage risks, dependencies and decisions
• Act as senior technical referent: review the team's work and provide coaching in Data Science and AI
• Define robust technical practices; advise business and management on AI opportunities, limitations and implementation choices
• Lead the definition and implementation of an enterprise AI governance framework, aligned with Responsible AI principles and the EU AI Act — including processes for identifying and assessing AI initiatives, validating implementations, tracking expected and realized value, and ensuring regulatory compliance Profile sought
• University degree in a quantitative/technical field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or AI, with end-to-end delivery to production and monitoring
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, Machine Learning and Generative AI, with solid understanding of industrialization and MLOps
• Proven experience as a senior technical referent: guidance, code/work review, coaching
• Ability to challenge requirements, assess value/feasibility and translate complex topics for business and management audiences
• Good understanding of enterprise AI governance; comfortable coordinating cross-functional stakeholders in a regulated environment
• Fluent English, plus fluent French OR Dutch Mission details
