Bolt is Belgium's first energy platform that makes it possible
- and easy
- to buy energy directly from local, green producers. Customers know exactly where their energy comes from and where their money goes. We're here to make the energy market transparent and to accelerate the energy transition. Why does Bolt do this? Because today's energy market is not transparent. Traditional suppliers sell grey energy as green, and they're not helping our country become more sustainable. Bolt wants to change that. Are you ready to go against the current with us? We are looking for an Energy & Finance Controller to join our Finance team and take ownership of gross margin analysis, pricing controlling and reporting to internal & external stakeholders, next to supporting broader Finance topics as needed. This is a role for someone who doesn't just report numbers but also understand the energy market dynamics behind them, and translate them into actionable insights. We will build up this knowledge together. Your tasks As Energy & Finance Controller, you take end-to-end accountability across different areas:
• You control the pricing setting of Bolt: execution of fixed price calculations, energy hedging follow-up and price positioning. Controlling of the promotions and related pricing budgets.
• You report & act on gross margin: gross margin reporting on different levels (from contract level to aggregate level) including following up on deviations from targets and defining related action points.
• You manage our regulatory obligations: management & reporting of our green certificate & guarantee of origin portfolio, price reporting and broader regulatory reporting.
• You contribute to budgeting: you support the preparation of the annual budget for your scope, and follow up on actuals vs. budget, flagging deviations and helping build the forecast.
• You are the SPOC for business performance: maintaining the monthly KPI dashboard (based on the Bolt Goals) and other dashboards, as well as handling ad hoc performance reporting requests from leadership.
• You support on broader Finance topics (E.g. General ledger bookings, provision calculations, P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, etc.)
• You work closely with other departments and leadership, adapting your communication to each audience.
What we offer
• A job with real impact: you help us accelerate the energy transition while building deep expertise in one of Belgium's most complex regulated markets.
• A full-time role with a hybrid setup in Brussels.
• A lean, driven Finance team where your work is visible and your opinions count.
• A competitive package What we expect
• You have at least 3 years of experience in a reporting or controlling role. Experience in the energy sector is a plus, but not necessary.
• You have an affinity for data and dashboarding. You're comfortable building and maintaining reports, and you know your way around tools like Excel, Power BI, or similar.
• You have an affinity with (or willingness to learn) general ledger/bookkeeping tools.
• You take ownership. You don't wait for a request to spot an anomaly, you flag it and act on it.
• You are comfortable navigating regulation and keeping submissions on time independently.
• You communicate well with both technical colleagues and senior stakeholders, and you adapt your message accordingly.
• You express yourself fluently in Dutch or French and English.
How to apply
Interested? Apply via talent@boltenergie.be and tell us briefly why this role is the right fit for where you are in your career. We'll invite you for a short intro call with People & Culture, followed by a conversation with the Finance lead and a team member, and finally a meeting with our leadership to close the process. If both sides are positive, you can join us as soon as possible. "We're powered by people." Bolt strives to be an inclusive employer. Everyone who applies is considered and given equal opportunity.
