Offshore Permit Officer

About the Role
NISH Tech BV is seeking an Offshore Permit Officer to support offshore energy infrastructure projects for a leading European energy infrastructure organization. This role focuses on managing permits, authorizations, environmental commitments, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle. You will coordinate environmental studies, oversee marine and environmental permitting activities, translate permit conditions into project requirements, and work closely with contractors, engineering teams, external consultants, and public authorities. You will also contribute to regulatory reporting, marine spatial planning discussions, and environmental initiatives related to offshore infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of offshore environmental matters with analytical thinking, diplomatic stakeholder management, and the ability to take ownership in a changing project environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor applicable Belgian and European marine and environmental regulations.
• Prepare, submit, and coordinate environmental permits, cable permits, and domain concessions.
• Supervise environmental impact studies conducted by independent consultants.
• Coordinate study findings and environmental considerations with competent authorities.
• Oversee subsea cable route studies and seabed surveys.
• Coordinate cross-border matters relating to interconnectors and territorial waters.
• Translate permit decisions and conditions into project requirements and responsibilities.
• Monitor compliance with permit conditions throughout project implementation.
• Prepare reports on permit compliance, potential infringements, permit changes, and environmental incidents.
• Negotiate and finalize crossing and proximity agreements with other operators.
• Coordinate external activities involving specialist contractors and environmental monitoring.
• Align external communications relating to offshore activities with relevant stakeholders.
• Support nature-inclusive design and marine biodiversity initiatives.
• Represent project interests in discussions with public authorities and relevant stakeholder groups.
• Participate in working groups focused on offshore coordination and knowledge sharing. Required Skills Mandatory
• Master’s degree with strong knowledge and experience in environmental aspects of the offshore sector.
• Excellent Dutch and English.
• Strong understanding of offshore environmental and regulatory matters.
• Ability to coordinate permitting activities and work with public authorities and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Diplomatic stakeholder management and a collaborative approach.
• Accuracy, accountability, enthusiasm, and results orientation. Nice-to-Have
• Experience with environmental impact assessments and studies.
• Experience with offshore cable routing and seabed surveys.
• Familiarity with marine spatial planning and environmental monitoring.
• Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and public authorities. Location & Work Model Brussels, Belgium — on-site presence required 2 days per week.
