What does this job entail?
At KBC, we use a wide range of statistical models that are developed in-house. These models cover the domains of credit, markets, finance, asset management, and insurance. While they are often used for risk measurement purposes, they also serve many other business objectives. We develop these models using both traditional statistical techniques and AI-based approaches.
As a Model Validator within the Credit Risk domain, your core responsibility is to validate models from both a qualitative and quantitative perspective. You critically assess their design, challenge assumptions, and evaluate their performance. The result? Stronger, more reliable models that support sound decision-making across the organization.
What do we expect from you?
• Independently validate models from start to finish.
• Present your findings to model owners, Chief Risk Officers, and Chief Financial Officers. Based on your analyses and your understanding of regulations and business practices, you provide well-founded answers to questions such as: “Can we use this model? Does it perform as intended?”
• Collaborate regularly with colleagues in Belgium and abroad, and occasionally interact with external stakeholders such as auditors and regulators. This allows you to build a valuable professional network.
• Contribute to discussions on modelling methodologies and best practices. Your key strengths?
• You hold a Master's degree or PhD in (applied) sciences such as Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in risk management or finance is considered a strong asset, but it is not required. We provide training and coaching to help you get started successfully.
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• You are comfortable asking critical questions and enjoy exploring complex and challenging topics.
• Providing clear advice on complex matters comes naturally to you.
• You enjoy working independently while consistently respecting deadlines.
• Like your colleagues, you are eager to support others and continuously learn and grow in the workplace. What can
