Your journey with usDeloitte Belgium’s Financial Risk department helps organizations identify the risks impacting their business and implement effective and efficient processes to measure and manage these risks (mainly market, credit and liquidity risk). To this end, the team leverages its expertise in data analytics, machine learning techniques and process optimization, combined with a strong understanding of the regulatory and business context.
As a (Senior) Consultant in Financial Services Industry, you will be part of a dynamic team that draws together specialist knowledge and Financial Services Industry experience. As a team with various competencies we implement new financial sector regulation and help risk, finance and compliance departments cope with the many industry challenges.
What will you be doing ? You will join a team of experienced professionals where collaboration and communication are at the heart of our way of working. You are curious and analytical, with a natural drive to excel. Amongst other, your activities will include:
• Help our clients improve their internal risk and capital management practices; both regarding risk measurement and management as well as sound governance;
• Advise our clients on the strategy to comply with new regulation, or expectations from supervisors or resolution authorities;
• Help our clients implement procedures, processes, infrastructure and a governance to efficiently comply with regulation and business needs;
• Tackling the challenges our clients face in analysing, controlling and reporting their risk and financial data;
• Develop recovery plans as well as playbooks for various resolution strategies, perform dry-run exercises in the context of recovery and resolution.
• Develop valuation handbooks and manuals;
• Contribute to firm eminence for internal and external audiences and contribute to international working groups;
• Mentor junior staff and support their development.
• With a strong understanding of the challenges our clients face, you will improve our clients' key risk management procedures, processes, infrastructure and governance, and help them respond effectively and efficiently to risk & control matters Let's talk about you
• You have a Master's degree in economics, engineering, mathematics or have an equivalent experience;
• You have between 2 and 5 years of working experience in the banking industry, preferably in a previous consulting advisory role;
• You have a first working experience in in at least one of the following areas:
• Risk Management
• External audit in the banking sector.
• Valuation of financial instruments and/or loan portfolios;
• M&A in the banking sector;
• Recovery and resolution planning;
• Implementation of regulatory requirements (AnaCredit, Basel, IFRS9, BCBS239…)
• You have a critical and analytical mindset;
• You demonstrate understanding of business processes, regulatory requirements, internal control risk management, process, data and technology controls and related standards and frameworks.
• You are fluent in English and Dutch or French. Soft
skills:
• Quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills, with high capacity for solving challenging business problems
• Present complex risk management and/or valuation concepts and findings in a clear and accessible manner to stakeholders at various levels of technical expertise.
• Strong analytical thinking and a drive for continuous learning and improvement, tech-savvy
