Role Description The Senior Policy Advisor at ASAJA (Asociación Agraria-Jóvenes Agricultores) will lead the development, analysis, and advocacy of agricultural and rural policy positions at the European level. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Brussels. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring EU legislative and regulatory developments, preparing policy briefs, position papers, and reports, and providing strategic advice to ASAJA leadership on emerging policy issues. The Senior Policy Advisor will represent ASAJA in meetings with EU institutions, stakeholder platforms, and industry forums, and will coordinate with national offices to ensure alignment of policy priorities. The role also involves organizing and contributing to conferences and workshops, preparing presentations, and supporting communication efforts to clearly convey ASAJA’s policy messages to internal and external audiences. Qualifications
• Strong policy development and public policy skills, with experience designing and implementing policy strategies in an EU or international context.
• Advanced analytical skills and research capabilities, including the ability to interpret complex legislative texts, economic data, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting policy briefs, position papers, and presenting to diverse audiences.
• Relevant academic background, ideally a master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in EU agricultural, rural development, or environmental policy, and familiarity with EU institutions and decision-making processes.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with policymakers, stakeholders, and partner organizations, and to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic policy environment.
• Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of Spanish and/or other EU languages is an asset.
