Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager (Stationed in Dongguan) Job Overview Based permanently at our Dongguan manufacturing facility and reporting to factory leadership, this position requires a structured engineering professional to take full hands-on ownership of our technical department. You will serve as a consultative partner across project and manufacturing engineering—proactively identifying process bottlenecks, structuring clear technical choices, and seeking management alignment before implementation. This role is designed for a down-to-earth executor who can systematically introduce operational efficiencies while ensuring smooth coordination with our Hong Kong headquarters and international sales offices. Salary Range: Negotiable based on experience

Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Technical Direction: Provide strategic leadership and technical direction to the engineering team, covering project engineering and manufacturing engineering across a range of product complexities.
• Technical Brief Evaluation: Work directly with project and sales teams to evaluate technical briefs, present practical fabrication choices, and ensure production feasibility.
• Portfolio & Resource Oversight: Manage the engineering project portfolio to align with business objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource planning.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop Manufacturing Engineers, promoting innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement while establishing clear technical accountability on the floor.
· Process Standardisation: Establish and implement best practices in new product development, manufacturing processes, quality control, engineering documentation, and machining setups.
· Workflow & Capability Enhancements: Conduct thorough evaluations of existing manufacturing workflows and systems, identifying bottlenecks and implementing lean manufacturing principles and automation to enhance production capabilities.
· Troubleshooting & CAPA: Perform in-depth root cause analysis for manufacturing deviations and production issues, developing and implementing robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with R&D, Production floor managers, Quality Assurance, and Hong Kong production teams to ensure smooth product launches and efficient operations.
· Operational Efficiency & Technology: Drive the adoption of advanced engineering methods, practical machinery upgrades, layout enhancements, and modern technologies to improve product quality, reduce costs, and enhance manufacturing capability.
· Management Reporting: Organize operational findings early, briefing factory leadership and seeking executive advice before rolling out structural updates. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of practical, progressive experience in the manufacturing sector; experience within the high-end furniture or woodworking industry is highly preferred.
• Proven track record of modernizing traditional corporate and factory administrative structures.
• Well-versed in Mainland China manufacturing compliance and cross-border operational nuances.
• Strong ability to diagnose administrative gaps, structure clear engineering choices, and work collaboratively with executives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a respectful and cooperative approach to working alongside experienced factory team leaders under strict production deadlines.
• Results-oriented, confident, and able to work independently.
• Open-minded, creative innovative and detail-oriented.
• Proactive, responsive, accountable, and able to anticipate operational issues and plan ahead to prevent production delays.
• Strong time management skills with a highly goal-oriented mindset.
• Proficient in engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER) and modern manufacturing quality control methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, SPC).
• Demonstrated knowledge of modern manufacturing processes, materials science, and quality control methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, SPC)
• Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
• Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
