location:
Wavre, Belgium E2 Drives is a young engineering company active in electric mobility. E2 Drives is specialised in mechanics, electronics, electric motor design and embedded control. In recent years, they developed an innovative and disruptive powertrain for electric bikes. This patented technology offers comfort, robustness and performance to the cyclist thanks to its all-in-one and internal automatic gearbox design. E2 Drives mission is to revolutionise the way people are commuting, thanks to its disruptive eBike propulsion system. E2 Drivesconcluded a partnership with Decathlon and plans on becoming an ebike motor leader in the coming years. E2 Drives has launched its first generation of motors in 2023 and is working on a second generation of motors to enlarge the eBike motor offer. The tech company is based in Wavre (a nice place in the South-East of Brussels) and can count on a team of 35 young, dynamic and smart professionals. What will be your role? You will join the "Test & Validation” team to take part in the software development that runs our test benches. You will develop both the bench control and the user interface needed to operate it, using Matlab/Simulink with Speedgoat real-time target machines. You will also take part in the architecture design and the selection of the equipment needed to control each bench, such as sensor specifications, and build plant models in Matlab/Simulink to simulate realistic conditions on the bench. Your goal is to give our test engineers reliable, intuitive and easy-to-use tools. To do that, you will work closely with them, from the first requirements of a new bench through to its validation, long-term maintenance and implementation of new features. Your main tasks for the realisation of the project will be
• Bench software development: Turn test engineers’ needs into clear software requirements, then build and tune the bench control software in MATLAB/Simulink. Interface the real-time machines (Speedgoat, dSPACE) with the bench hardware and instrumentation using MATLAB and Python.
• User interface and autonomy: Design an intuitive interface to monitor and run the benches, with a quick user guide so users can work without an operator.
• Validation and support: Test and validate each release before it goes live. Work with users to troubleshoot issues, find root causes and keep improving the software from their feedback.
• Model-Based Design and prototyping: Develop simulation models and advanced real-time setups (e.g. Rapid Control Prototyping) to run benches in realistic conditions and advance Drive Unit technology, as part of the E2Drives MBD core team.
• Data post-processing: Develop MATLAB tools to analyse and post-process test data. What will make you successful?
• You are an Electromechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineer with professional experience in MATLAB/Simulink, control strategy development and signal acquisition, and basic experience with Python.
• You enjoy working with real hardware (motors, sensors, power supplies…) and like designing tools that are simple and intuitive to use.
• You are rigorous and results-oriented, with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
• You are fluent in English; French is a plus. Nice to have knowledge or

experience:
• Experience with real-time systems (Speedgoat, dSPACE or similar)
• Control interfaces (ControlDesk, MATLAB apps, other GUIs)
• Real-time control strategies
• Communication protocols (CAN, Serial, EtherCAT)
• C programming
• SQL
• TwinCAT
• Git
