Who are we looking for? We are looking for a talented IT Solution Architect
- Airline Operations who can translate operational business needs into reliable, secure, maintainable and cost-effective IT solutions. You will act as a trusted bridge between business stakeholders, delivery managers, service delivery teams, suppliers and Lufthansa Group IT teams, helping to keep our daily airline operations running reliably. • Translate business and operational requirements into pragmatic IT solution designs for airline operations applications and services.
• Provide architectural guidance throughout project intake, pre-study, RFI/RFQ/RFP, implementation, testing, service introduction and operational handover.
• Support delivery managers and project teams with technical analyses, impact assessments, integration choices, non-functional requirements and risk mitigation.
• Ensure solutions are resilient, secure, supportable, scalable and aligned with the Brussels Airlines business context and Lufthansa Group standards where applicable.
• Act as the technical point of contact for operational applications during incident, problem, change and release management processes.
• Create and maintain clear technical and operational documentation, including solution designs, interface descriptions, support models, operational procedures, knowledge articles and handover documentation.
• Coordinate with suppliers, internal IT teams, the service desk, infrastructure and security teams, Lufthansa Group enterprise architecture and business subject matter experts.
• Help define monitoring needs, support responsibilities, escalation paths, access models, disaster recovery expectations and service acceptance criteria.
• Identify recurring issues, technical debt, documentation gaps and opportunities for simplification or automation.

You’ll be part of IT / Business Systems Management Operations, working at the intersection of project delivery and operational service ownership. During projects, you will safeguard the technical coherence and operational readiness of solutions. During the run phase, you will help maintain service stability and ensure applications remain fit for purpose in the airline operations environment. You will report directly to our Business Solutions Manager Operations.

Your profile

• You have at least five years of relevant experience in IT solution design, technical application support, service delivery, business systems management or project delivery.
• You have a strong understanding of IT solution architecture principles, including application landscapes, data flows, interfaces, environments, lifecycle management and solution maintainability.
• You can analyse business needs and translate them into functional, technical and non-functional specifications.
• You understand integration concepts such as APIs, file exchanges, middleware, messaging, authentication, authorisation and environment connectivity.
• You have experience with incident, problem, change, release, request fulfilment, service transition and operational support processes.
• You can produce clear, high-quality technical and operational documentation for project delivery and live service support.
• You understand security, access management, compliance, auditability, monitoring, business continuity and disaster recovery principles.
• You are comfortable working with external suppliers, managed service providers and internal technical teams in a multi-stakeholder environment.
• You communicate fluently in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset.
• You think analytically and can turn complex technical and operational topics into clear decisions, options and recommendations.
• You communicate in a structured way and adapt the level of detail to your audience.
• You take ownership and follow topics from design through implementation and handover to live service stability.
• You work constructively across teams, share knowledge and build alignment between project and run organisations.
• You understand the impact of IT services on punctuality, safety, compliance, crew and ground operations, and customer experience.
• You balance business needs, group standards, costs, risks and operational urgency with sound judgement.
• You remain calm, structured and solution-oriented during incidents, escalations and operational disruptions.
• You work accurately and ensure that documentation, access models, support instructions, handover packs and escalation paths are complete and usable.
• Experience with airline operations or a similarly time-critical operational domain is seen as an asset. What’s in it for you?
