About Us
We exist to prevent child sexual abuse and support survivors. Through research, public awareness, and prevention training, we strive to shed light on the devastating impact of CSA and empower communities to prevent it. Our team is built of a robust board led by the Founder of TALK and wonderful volunteers. We are a grassroots, hands-on charity aiming to grow. Role OverviewTALK Hong Kong is undergoing an exciting structural transition to support our next phase of growth. Our Founder, Taura Edgar, is stepping off the Board of Directors to assume the role of Executive Director (ED) to lead operations. We are seeking an experienced, independent Chair of the Board to lead our non-executive directors and partner with the ED. This role is critical in establishing a clear, healthy division between governance oversight and operational execution. The incoming Chair will provide non-executive leadership, line management to the ED, and strategic stewardship to ensure the charity scales safely and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities
• ED Line Management & Partnership: Act as the primary line manager, trusted advisor, and sounding board for the Executive Director (Founder), overseeing her annual performance review, setting key metrics, and supporting operational transition.
• Board Leadership: Chair board meetings, foster a collaborative culture, encourage board engagement, and build team interaction.
• Governance: Ensure the board maintains independent oversight over governance, legal compliance, and strategy with the support of the Governance lead and the whole board.
• Structural Transition Management: Help formalise the boundary between non-executive governance (Board) and executive delivery (ED & operations).
• Financial & Risk Oversight: Oversee financial stewardship, risk management frameworks, and statutory compliance under Hong Kong charity law.
• Ambassadorship: Partner with the ED to represent TALK Hong Kong at high-level external engagements promoting public awareness.
• Fundraising Leadership & Board Mobilisation: Lead a proactive focus on revenue growth by actively equipping the board with your experience and skills in fundraising. Support board directors in their obligation to fundraise on behalf of the organisation.
• Active Donor Engagement: Champion a high-energy fundraising culture across the board, transforming directors from passive overseers into active champions who directly support income targets and philanthropic outreach.
• Board Succession & Development: Lead non-executive board recruitment, committee structuring, and annual board performance evaluations. Qualifications
• Senior Leadership

Experience:
Proven experience as a Chair, Vice-Chair, or senior Non-Executive Director within a non-profit, corporate, or legal setting (Essential).
• Fundraising Expertise & Board Mobilisation: Demonstrated expertise in non-profit fundraising, major donor stewardship, or corporate partnerships, paired with a strong capability to coach, train, and activate board members to fundraise effectively.
• Executive Supervision: Direct experience line-managing, coaching, or overseeing an ED or CEO—ideally within a founder-led or growing organisation.
• Governance & Fiduciary Mastery: Strong knowledge of non-profit governance standards, risk frameworks, and statutory duties in Hong Kong.
• Language

Skills:
Professional proficiency in English; Cantonese language proficiency is highly advantageous.
• Mission Alignment: A deep, demonstrated commitment to child protection, social justice, and community empowerment.
• Local

Requirements:
Right to work in Hong Kong, completion of a fit and proper declaration, and a negative sexual convictions record check.
• Commitment: Ability to dedicate 12–15 hours per month over a 2-year tenure.

What We Offer
• The opportunity to lead the governance transformation of an impactful, expanding charity.
• A close, constructive partnership with a dedicated Founder and operational team.
