About The Department
Haulogy develops software that digitalizes the energy sector and accelerates the green energy transition, while helping lower energy costs. You will join our internal IT & Operations team, responsible for the infrastructure, security and reliability of the platforms our clients rely on, as well as the internal systems and tools our own teams depend on.
The Team
You will join a close-knit team of infrastructure, DevOps and technical operations engineers supporting mission-critical SaaS platforms for grid operators, suppliers and other energy market players.
Our platform is moving to AWS. Part of it already runs there, part still runs on managed hosting, and we are migrating the rest over the coming months. You will join at the point where that platform is being built and taken into production, which means both shaping how environments are provisioned and running them once they are.
The Role
We are looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to help us build, automate and run our solutions on AWS.
Your main mission is to make our environments cheap and reliable to operate on AWS: provisioning them as code, automating the configuration and data work that is still done by hand today, and putting the monitoring and guardrails in place. Migrating the remaining environments off our legacy hosting is the current phase of that work, and you will be part of it.
You will also run what you build. This is an operations role, not a pure platform engineering one: alongside the automation work, you will handle incidents, database restores, certificates, access and day-to-day requests, and support colleagues who depend on these systems. We think that is a feature rather than a drawback, because operating the platform yourself is what tells you which parts of it are worth automating next.
Responsibilities
• Build and operate environments on AWS. Provision, configure and run client and internal environments, and help move the remaining ones off our legacy hosting.
• Automate what repeats. Turn manual, environment-by-environment work into scripts, templates and infrastructure-as-code, so the next environment costs less effort than the last.
• Monitoring and reliability. Put the right alerting and dashboards in place, and act on what they show before clients notice.
• Cost control. Help keep the platform affordable as it grows: right-sizing, shutdown schedules, and spotting what we pay for and no longer use.
• Day-to-day operations. Database dumps and restores, backups, data transfers, routine maintenance across production and internal environments.
• Certificates and access. TLS/SSL certificate lifecycle, whitelisting, accounts and permissions across internal and client-facing services.
• Incident support. Investigate and resolve technical and security incidents, including supporting our Support teams when incidents affect client environments.
• Internal systems. Keep our internal applications and SaaS tools running, and help colleagues who depend on them.
• Documentation. Write runbooks and procedures so the knowledge lives in the team rather than in one person's head. Essential Requirements
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in systems administration, technical operations or a comparable role.
• Linux fundamentals. You are at ease on a Linux system: services, processes, logs, permissions, networking, disk.
• Hands-on experience with containers. You have built and run containerized applications (Docker or equivalent) and understand images, volumes and networking between containers.
• You want to understand, not just execute. When you run a command or follow a procedure, you know what it does and why. When something breaks, you look for the cause rather than the workaround.
• An automation reflex. Faced with a task you will do ten times, your instinct is to script it. You are comfortable with Bash or another scripting language.
• Appetite for cloud and infrastructure-as-code. You want to grow toward AWS, automation and modern infrastructure practices, and you learn new tooling on your own.
• Reliability and ownership. You see tasks through, you document, and you say when you don't know.
• A service mindset. You will support colleagues and other teams, including people far less technical than you.
• Comfortable with occasional work outside office hours during incidents.
• Fluency in French and English. Bonus Skills
• Experience with a cloud platform, ideally AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, EKS, CloudFormation).
• Terraform, a strong plus; other infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools such as Ansible are welcome too.
• Kubernetes, a strong plus.
• CI/CD and GitOps: Bitbucket Pipelines, GitLab CI, Argo CD.
• Monitoring and observability: Grafana, Prometheus, Loki.
• PostgreSQL administration, including dump and restore in production.
• Certificate management and PKI concepts.
• An interest in information security; we work within an ISO 27001 certified ISMS and under NIS2 obligations.
