Senior Mining Consultant – Underground

With a global network of technical specialists, SRK supports mining projects at all stages of development, from exploration and feasibility studies through to operations, due diligence, and closure. We are seeking a S enior Mining Consultant to join our Hong Kong office to support mining and project evaluation projects across Asia and internationally. The Role The successful candidate will provide high-quality technical consulting services for underground and open-pit mining projects. This role will involve technical studies, mine planning, project evaluation, due diligence, operational reviews, and client engagement. The position is suited to a senior-level mining engineer with strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams across different jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver technical consulting services for underground and open-pit mining projects.
• Prepare and review mine designs, production schedules, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Contribute to scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and due diligence studies.
• Conduct operational reviews and identify opportunities for productivity, safety, and cost improvements.
• Support mineral asset evaluations, audits, and independent technical reports.
• Work closely with geologists, geotechnical engineers, processing engineers , environmental scientists , and economists .
• Manage project tasks, budgets, schedules, and client communications.
• Prepare proposals, presentations, and technical documentation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in Hong Kong, Mainland Chinaand the wider Asia-Pacific region. Candidate Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8
- 10 years of mining industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in both underground and open-pit mining.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning, mine design, scheduling, and cost estimation.
• Experience with mining software such as Deswik, Surpac, Datamine, Vulcanor similar packages.
• Prior consulting experience is highly desirable.
• Experience preparing or contributing to technical studies, competent person reports, due diligence reports, or feasibility studies.
• Strong understanding of mining operations, safety practices, and economic evaluation.
• Professional registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant engineering body is preferred.
• Ability to travel regionally and internationally as required. Language Skills
• Fluent in English and Chinese.
• Ability to communicate professionally with clients, technical teams, and stakeholders in both languages. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a technically strong mining engineer with practical site experience and consulting capability. They will be confident working with clients, preparing high-quality technical reports, and contributing to business development. A strong understanding of mining projects in China, Southeast Asia, or the wider Asia-Pacific region would be advantageous. What SRK Offers
