M&A Analyst | Hong Kong
Company Description
Founded in 2000, Huntington Advisory is an independent advisory firm specialising in M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory across the financial services sector, with particular depth in insurance and reinsurance. Headquartered in Singapore, with offices in Hong Kong and London, we advise clients on domestic and cross-border transactions across Asia, MENA, and Europe.
Role Description
We are seeking an M&A Analyst based in Hong Kong to support our coverage of Hong Kong, mainland China, and other East Asian markets, alongside broader regional transactions.
You will work directly with senior deal team members and take meaningful ownership of transaction work, from financial modelling and valuation to preparing client materials and coordinating due diligence. Our lean team gives analysts early responsibility, direct exposure to clients and counterparties, and the opportunity to contribute throughout a transaction.
This role suits someone with approximately two years of relevant experience, including internships, who wants to build transaction experience across financial services and take on increasing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct company, industry, and competitor research, with a focus on the East Asian financial services sector.
• Identify potential acquisition targets, buyers, and investors to support origination and live mandates.
• Build and maintain financial models, analyse financial statements, and perform valuations using DCF, trading comparables, and precedent transactions.
• Prepare pitch books, teasers, information memoranda, company profiles, and management presentations.
• Support due diligence by reviewing financial and operating information, identifying key risks and value drivers, and preparing follow-up questions.
• Coordinate data requests, maintain transaction trackers, and liaise with clients, counterparties, and external advisers.
• Research relevant regulatory and transaction considerations with guidance from senior colleagues and specialist advisers. Qualifications
• Approximately two years of relevant experience across M&A advisory, investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services, private equity, or strategy consulting. Relevant internships count towards this experience.
• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or another analytical discipline.
• A solid grounding in accounting, financial modelling, and valuation, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• The ability to translate financial analysis and research into clear conclusions and well-structured presentations.
• Prior exposure to, or a strong interest in, financial services, particularly insurance, reinsurance, insurance broking, wealth management, and payment solutions.
• Familiarity with East Asian markets, particularly Hong Kong and mainland China, would be beneficial.
• Strong written and spoken English, proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese, and the ability to review Chinese-language company materials and communicate with clients and counterparties in the relevant markets.
• Applicants must already hold valid authorisation to work in Hong Kong.
