About NEXT UPS Systems
NEXT UPS Systems is a European company with offices in Belgium and the Netherlands and more than 20 years of experience in UPS and power protection. Together with some of the best OEM factories, we develop a complete range of UPS systems and power solutions for IT, data centres and industry.
About the role
As a Field Service Engineer, you are the technical face of NEXT UPS Systems for our customers and resellers. You handle installations, commissioning, maintenance, faults and training. A UPS sits right where electricity and IT meet: you work with electrical installations, but also with servers, racks, network equipment and monitoring. Don't be put off by the word "engineer". We're mainly looking for a hands-on technician with a strong electrical background, a real interest in IT and the drive to get to the bottom of problems. What you will do
• You commission UPS systems, configure the right settings and explain the system to the customer.
• You carry out planned and preventive maintenance and install software updates.
• You troubleshoot faults, replace parts, components and batteries, and advise the customer.
• You give training and technical advice to our resellers on installation and start-up.
• You follow up on interventions and customer escalations until they are resolved.
• You record customer information and visit reports in our CRM.
• You test and evaluate new products together with our factories.
• You help with stock management and work in an organised way according to priorities. Who you are
• Electricity is your foundation: you can understand, measure and connect installations, troubleshoot faults and work safely.
• You have a strong interest in IT, servers, networks and computer hardware. Do you build your own PC at home? We'd love to hear about it.
• You're hands-on: you enjoy tinkering and want to know how things work.
• You're persistent and keep digging until you find the cause of a problem.
• You can explain technical matters clearly to a customer, even one who isn't technical.
• Physical work doesn't put you off, including moving and replacing UPS batteries.
• After your training, you work independently, in an organised, accurate and punctual way.
• You speak Dutch and French and can get by in English.
• You're comfortable with MS Office. You have experience as, for example, a service technician, industrial electrician, electromechanic, electronics or automation technician, or as a data centre or hardware technician. UPS experience is a plus, but not required.
What we offer
• A varied, independent and entrepreneurial role.
• A permanent contract with a market-based salary.
• A company car, laptop and mobile phone.
• On-the-job training, courses and workshops. A colleague will show you the ropes of our systems.
• The opportunity to develop yourself in the IT sector.
• Committed colleagues and an informal work atmosphere. Location Relegem (Asse), with on-site interventions at customers in Belgium and the Benelux.
