About us
Xeryon is a fast-growing company located in the heart of the Eastech Park Leuven. With a close-knit team, we focus on developing and improving piezo motors, actuators, and stages. Job Summary: Due to its unique motor technology, Xeryon has developed its own control platform. The firmware running on these controllers ensures very precise and extremely fast movement of our motors. As an Embedded Software Developer at Xeryon, you will be responsible for the development of embedded software for our controllers and for programming User Interfaces on various platforms. Your mission is to build and maintain in a team a scalable, modular firmware platform that supports multiple hardware variants and communication interfaces — ranging from accessible entry-level interfaces such as USB to robust industrial protocols such as CAN and CANopen. You take ownership of architectural decisions that ensure long-term maintainability, extensibility, and performance across our product portfolio. In addition, you support customers in integrating our controllers into their machines and industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Support & System Integration
• Support customers integrating Xeryon controllers into their machines.
• Advise on communication interface selection (USB vs CAN/CANopen).
• Support CANopen configuration and network setup.
• Analyze and resolve integration issues.
• Develop integration documentation and application notes.
• Translate field challenges into structural product improvements. Testing, Validation & Release Strategy
• Define platform-wide testing strategies across hardware variants.
• Ensure robust release management and backward compatibility.
• Maintain high-quality technical documentation. Communication Abstraction & Multi-Interface Support
• Design a flexible communication framework supporting USB and CAN/CANopen.
• Implement CAN and CANopen stacks (object dictionary, PDO/SDO mapping, device profiles).
• Isolate protocol-specific layers from motion/control logic.
• Ensure deterministic behavior in multi-node industrial networks.
• Debug issues at physical, protocol, and application layers.
• Standardize communication across product families. Real-Time Control & Embedded Development
• Develop high-performance embedded firmware in C/C++.
• Implement deterministic real-time control loops for precision piezo motion systems.
• Ensure accurate timing behavior, stability, and repeatability.
• Implement diagnostics, error handling, and fault recovery mechanisms.
• Optimize CPU load, memory usage, and communication latency.
• Lead code reviews and enforce structured development practices. Hardware Bring-Up & Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
• Do firmware bring-up on new controller hardware.
• Collaborate with electronics engineers on hardware–firmware interaction.
• Participate in design reviews focusing on robustness and compatibility.
• Use advanced debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzers Qualifications Technical Expertise
• Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial embedded firmware experience.
• Proven experience designing scalable embedded architectures.
• Strong C/C++ expertise.
• Experience with real-time systems and motion control.
• Strong knowledge of CAN and CANopen (implementation-level).
• Experience with USB and other communication interfaces (USB,UART,SPI,I2C,EtherCAT)
