Brussels, Brussels-Capital, Belgique COMPASS - Compliance, Oversight & Monitoring for Privacy, AI & Sustainable Standards Télétravail Temps plein
Social Media Coordinator This position is fully remote, LinkedIn requires a city so we listed Brussels, but applicants are welcome from anywhere in Europe. COMPASS is an EU-facing civil society organisation building independent oversight of EU digital regulation, launched in Croatia in May 2026. We are about to start publishing original papers and social media posts: for example, one about the AI systems that screen job applicants before a human ever sees their application. This role carries that information to the people who need it, who it can help or who can act on it. We are building a small social team in which each person owns one channel properly and backs up one other. Our channels are LinkedIn as our primary, X, Substack, Reddit, Mastodon and TikTok. Channels are assigned based on each coordinator's experience and the team's needs, and open as owners are found, so you may be asked to wait while a track fills. It is very likely most applicants will pick LinkedIn, this is where you are reading this after all
- but there is also a clear benefit in gaining a working experience in a new social channel like Mastodon. Would you be satisfied with either?

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own one COMPASS channel end to end, from its voice and posting through replies and audience growth
- Adapt COMPASS research into content that suits your platform, keeping the substance and changing the register
- Prepare share-ready material the rest of the team and the founders can carry, always under their own names and with the affiliation visible
- Handle community management, and know when to escalate rather than answer
- Keep the channel accessible, with alt text, captions, and a label on any image, audio or video generated or materially altered by AI
- Report on what works, and coordinate with the social team on a shared calendar every two weeks WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Judgement more than reach
- you know the difference between a post that performs and a post that positions, and you understand that COMPASS's voice should be authoritative without being inaccessible. Consistency matters more than volume here, since two thoughtful posts a week sustained over months will do more than a burst of activity followed by a quiet spell. Previous social media experience is not a requirement, but it would be nice to have and would not hurt. ON AI: Drafting, spellchecking and similar uses are fine, providing every post is reviewed and approved by a person who carries responsibility for it, and anything generated or materially altered by AI in image, audio or video is clearly labelled. WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
- Full ownership of a channel at a growing EU-facing institution.
- Work with the social lead and direct access to the founders on campaign strategy.
- The satisfaction of working on something worth doing, alongside people who are ambitious about the work rather than about themselves.
- Completing volunteers receive a formal letter of recommendation from COMPASS founders, specific to the work contributed
- addressed to your next employer or institution. Please ask for details. COMMITMENT: Consistent rather than intensive
- a minimum of two posts a week on your channel for at least six months. European time zones preferred. This role is uncompensated: COMPASS is an early-stage NGO
- the contribution is civic, not commercial. For more roles and positions, please check our website: https://compassngo.org/go/vo-nat
