Senior Program Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced industrial project leader to take full ownership of complex capital investment projects in an operational process environment. This opportunity is suited to a seasoned professional who combines strong technical insight with the ability to steer external engineering partners, manage multidisciplinary stakeholders, and deliver projects from early concept through commissioning and handover. Responsibilities
• Lead industrial CAPEX projects end to end, from pre-study and concept selection through commissioning and handover.
• Own the project scope, deliverables, budget, baseline planning, and overall execution strategy.
• Prepare and defend the business case, investment request, CAPEX estimate, and contingency plan.
• Build and manage integrated project schedules in MS Project, including shutdown and tie-in windows.
• Coordinate all project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Steer external engineering firms, EPCM partners, and contractors by challenging scope, estimates, schedules, and deliverables.
• Manage change control, deviations, claims, risks, and escalations with clear proposed solutions.
• Lead multidisciplinary internal and external teams across process, mechanical, piping, electrical, automation, civil, and EHS disciplines.
• Act as the single point of accountability toward site management, operations, EHS, and senior stakeholders.
• Promote a strong safety mindset throughout engineering and execution activities in an active industrial site. Technical Skills
• At least 15 years of industrial experience, including a minimum of 10 years as an owner-side Project Manager with full delivery accountability.
• Proven track record of at least 3 completed CAPEX projects of €5 million or more in the process industry, delivered from concept to handover within the last 10 years.
• Experience in preparing business cases and investment requests, including ownership of the resulting budget.
• Direct experience steering at least one EPCM or EPC contractor.
• Strong knowledge of pre-feasibility, concept studies, CAPEX budgeting, investment approval, commissioning, and handover.
• Engineering background in a relevant discipline such as mechanical, electrical, piping, or civil engineering; ideally supported by around 5 years as a project engineer.
• Hands-on experience with MS Project and ownership of integrated planning.
• Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• VCA-VOL certification is mandatory.
• PMP, Prince2, or IPMA certification is considered an asset. Profile
