Software & Hardware Integration Engineer – Railway – M/F/X
About the role
For one of our clients in the railway sector, Akkodis is looking for a Software & Hardware Integration Engineer based in Brussels, Belgium. The responsibilities
• Define the strategy for software/software and hardware/software integration activities.
• Produce integration test specifications, including the definition of the test environment and integration approach.
• Define and configure hardware platforms.
• Develop and execute automated integration test campaigns.
• Maintain and improve integration platforms, environments and tools.
• Support development teams during software integration and maturation.
• Identify and propose new integration technologies and methodologies.
• Actively participate in technical design and prototyping sessions.
• Work across different abstraction levels, from low-level software and hardware interactions to overall system integration. The requirements
• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 1 year of professional experience in projects involving software/hardware interactions.
• First hands-on experience in hardware/software integration.
• Good understanding of network protocols.
• Knowledge of hardware architectures, including CPU, real-time architectures and system configuration.
• Familiarity with the development of critical software products. Experience in the railway sector is considered a strong asset.
• Comfortable working with low-level software, including C, and navigating complex codebases.
• Hands-on mindset with a strong interest in integration, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving.
• Ability to collaborate closely with software developers and contribute constructively to technical discussions.
• Fluent in French and English. Knowledge of another European language is a plus.
• Based in or able to work in Brussels, Belgium. What do
