For more information about who we are: https://bluesquarehub.com/ Mission Bluesquare's portfolio of country projects continues to grow across Africa, spanning digital health infrastructure, disease surveillance, immunization, and a lot of other public health related topics, delivered in partnership with ministries of health, international donors, and implementing partners. Each country portfolio is led by a Country Lead who is accountable for project delivery, client relationships, and local team management. The Country Team Lead is responsible for managing and supporting this network of country teams, ensuring they are well-staffed, well-equipped, and set up for success. Beyond day-to-day team management, the role provides strategic direction and business development support, helping Country Leads navigate the donor landscape in their respective countries and ensuring a coherent representation of Bluesquare's vision and positioning across the portfolio. The Country Team Lead works closely with the Delivery (project management, technical teams), Business Development, Finance and HR teams to align country priorities with Bluesquare's broader organizational strategy. Location:
Brussels, Kinshasa or Abidjan. Willing to travel regularly (at least 2-3 times a year) to implementation countries (Burkina Faso, Niger, Côte d’Ivoire, DRC, Burundi) and HQ (Brussels). Role & responsibilities Strategic & business development support
• Develop and articulate a clear vision for Bluesquare's country entities, defining what success looks like in each market and how the entity should evolve over time.
• Define strategic priorities at country level — including where Bluesquare should invest, expand, or scale back — in line with the organization's broader growth strategy.
• Support (in collaboration with the business development team) Country Leads in business development efforts, helping them navigate and understand the donor ecosystem relevant to their countries and portfolios.
• Align with Practice Leads and the executive committee on key strategic topics, and translate that into clear guidance for Country Leads.
• Help Country Leads connect local opportunities to Bluesquare's broader strategic priorities and areas of technical focus.
• Maintain a strong understanding of Bluesquare's portfolio of technical solutions, including their capabilities and limitations, in order to advise Country Leads on what is realistically achievable in their contexts. Team Management
• Build and sustain a strong network of Country Leads: overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and workload distribution to ensure every country team is well-staffed and set up for success.
• Drive the professional growth of Country Leads through clear objective-setting, regular feedback, and access to relevant training, resources, and peer expertise.
• Act as a trusted advisor for Country Leads, helping them anticipate challenges and develop effective solutions. Coordination
• Coordinate with Practice Leads, Finance, HR, PM, BD and technical teams in the design of Country Leads' priorities and in identifying training needs.
• Oversee budget and P&L performance across country portfolios, in close collaboration with the Finance team.
• Interact with other leads in the Delivery team to ensure the country portfolio is well integrated into the broader organization of the Delivery team, avoiding silos and duplication of effort. You will directly respond to the Co-Director of the Service Business Unit and will interact on a regular basis with leads of Bluesquare Services. Profile We are looking for an experienced candidate with strong project management and technical skills, notably : Required:
• Working experience in large International Development or Global Health projects
• Experience managing and developing senior staff or managers, ideally in a multi-country or matrixed organization
• Experience with collaboration in remote working settings
• Experience designing tools and processes
• Experience in managing medium to large projects in a multicultural environment
• Experience with client contact and multi-stakeholder cooperation
• Experience with design and implementation of digital projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
• Experience in managing a budget / P&L Preferred:
• Experience working on designing an organization strategy
• An experience in a project involving complex data analysis
• Knowledge of programming and of software development processes
• Experience in capacity strengthening
• Knowledge of DHIS2, GIS, Data Management Soft
