To cover a replacement on an existing contract (3 years), we are looking for:
ServiceNow Developer

Location:
Brussels Languages: English (Dutch or French nice to have) Remote politics: 3 days on-site @ Client in Brussels 1) Role Summary As a ServiceNow Developer, you will design, configure, and develop solutions on the ServiceNow platform across multiple modules: ITSM, ITAM (SAM/HAM), ITOM, CMDB. You will translate functional requirements into high-quality, maintainable configurations and scripts, build workflows/automations, implement integrations, and ensure delivery meets performance, security, and upgradeability standards. You will collaborate closely with architects, business analysts, process owners, and platform administrators to implement enhancements and new capabilities while adhering to governance and best practices. 2)
Key Responsibilities
A. Development & Configuration (Core)Build and enhance ServiceNow applications using configuration-first principles and upgrade-safe development. Configure and develop: Forms, fields, UI policies, client scripts Business rules, script includes, scheduled jobs Notifications, templates, SLAs, assignment rules Access controls (roles, ACLs) in line with security requirements Develop and maintain workflows using: Flow Designer / Workflows (as applicable) Approvals, routing logic, automation steps, reusable components B. Module Delivery – ITSMImplement and improve ITSM processes across: Incident, Request, Problem, Change Knowledge Management Service Catalog items, record producers, fulfillment workflows SLAs and KPI tracking, automation for escalations and routing Support process optimization through automation, data quality improvements, and UX enhancements. C. Module Delivery – ITAM (SAM/HAM)Support SAM and HAM use cases: Software lifecycle, entitlement tracking, compliance reporting support Hardware lifecycle workflows (procure-to-retire), inventory accuracy Contract/vendor data linkage and lifecycle controls Configure related data models, integrations, and reporting to support asset management operations. D. Module Delivery – ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management), (Optional/nice to have)Support ITOM technical implementation: Configure Discovery schedules, credentials handling, MID server tasks (in collaboration with infra teams) Assist with Service Mapping creation/maintenance and relationship accuracy Implement Event Management rules, alert correlation tuning, and integration data mapping Support operational visibility and automation by aligning ITOM outputs with CMDB and ITSM processes. E. CMDB Development & Data QualityImplement CMDB-related configuration: CI classes (as permitted), attributes, relationships, and CI lifecycle controls Data quality rules, reconciliation patterns, normalization support (where applicable) Contribute to CMDB governance by ensuring correct CI creation/update patterns and integration behavior. F. Integrations & AutomationBuild and support integrations using platform capabilities such as: REST/SOAP APIs, scripted REST endpoints (when needed) IntegrationHub spokes/actions (where licensed/available) Data imports, transform maps, coalesce rules, scheduled imports Support event/data ingestion patterns for ITOM/SecOps/CMDB use cases. G. Quality, Testing & ReleaseFollow SDLC and platform governance: Code reviews, development standards, documentation Unit and functional testing, support/enable automated testing approaches (ATF where used) Participate in release planning, deployments, and post-release validation Ensure solutions are secure, performant, and maintainable. I. Operational Support & Continuous ImprovementProvide L3 support for developed components (bug fixes, performance tuning, root cause analysis). Proactively identify technical debt and propose improvements to align with best practices. Maintain technical documentation (solution notes, runbooks, support guides). 3) Required Skills & Experience ServiceNow Technical SkillsProven experience as a ServiceNow Developer in enterprise environments. Strong hands-on experience in: JavaScript (server-side and client-side ServiceNow scripting) Flow Designer / Workflow configuration Catalog item development and fulfillment automation ACLs, roles, and secure development practices Understanding of ServiceNow data model concepts (tables, dictionary, relationships). Module Knowledge (Target Scope) Hands-on experience in several of the following, with willingness to work across the full scope:ITSM (Incident/Request/Problem/Change/Knowledge/Catalog/SLAs) ITAM (SAM/HAM fundamentals, asset lifecycle, compliance support) ITOM (Discovery/service mapping/event data concepts) (optional/nice to have) CMDB (CI relationships, data quality, governance patterns) Delivery & Collaboration SkillsAbility to translate requirements into working configurations and scripts. Comfortable working with architects and functional consultants to implement approved designs. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in agile delivery models. 4) Certifications (Plus)ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – strong plus ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) – strong plus CIS certifications in one or more modules (nice-to-have, depending on focus): ITSM, ITOM, ITAM ITIL Foundation (nice-to-have) Excellent knowledge of scripting (Javascript) Security/Risk fundamentals (nice-to-have) 5) Deliverables & Success Measures (Examples) Success in this role is demonstrated by:Delivery of reliable, upgrade-safe platform configurations and scripts across modules. Improved automation and reduced manual workload for ITSM/ITOM/ITAM operations. Stable integrations and data pipelines supporting CMDB, event ingestion, and security workflows. High-quality releases with low defect rates, strong documentation, and predictable deployments. Measurable improvements in SLA compliance, MTTR reduction, data quality, and reporting readiness. 6) Typical Stakeholders & Collaboration You will work with:ServiceNow Architect(s) & Platform Owner Process Owners (ITSM, ITAM, ITOM) IT Operations teams & Monitoring teams (ITOM) Integration/IAM teams and external vendors 7) Nice-to-Have AttributesExperience in multi-module implementations rather than a single-process focus. Understanding of CMDB governance and how CMDB impacts ITSM/ITOM/ITAM.
