Job Description
Aldoria is expanding its activities in Belgium and is looking for a motivated SSA Engineer to support its activities within our growing European team. You will work closely with the technical team in Belgium and contribute to the development of projects related to space surveillance, optical sensor networks, and orbital safety services. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the rapidly evolving space sector, working at the intersection of engineering, operations, and customer engagement. As a SSA Engineer, you will design, develop and supervise advanced SSA systems in an international aerospace environment, shaping the future of space security and collaborate with institutions across the sector. Requirements
• Design, develop, and maintain algorithms for SSA applications, including space object tracking, catalog maintenance, orbit determination, and satellite attitude characterization.
• Translate scientific research and mathematical models into working algorithms.
• Manage data pipelines and implement tools for data visualization.
• Define technical requirements and produce system designs.
• Work with ground-based sensor data and space object catalogs to support SSA services and analyses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contributing technical expertise and supporting problem resolution throughout the system lifecycle.
• Proactively analyze complex technical problems and propose effective, robust solutions. Skills & Experience The tasks will be very diversified, and we mostly need someone who can learn quickly, who is eager to develop his/her strategic thinking, and who can communicate smoothly and effectively in an international environment, both internally and externally.
• 5+ years of experience in algorithm development and space systems.
• Interest in optical systems, orbital mechanics, or space surveillance.
• Advanced programming skills in Python and Java.
• Knowledge of ground-based sensors, orbital dynamics, and space object cataloging.
• Understanding of Orekit, GitLab CI/CD, Docker containerization, ECSS standards, and AI technologies is valued.
• Strong analytical thinking, autonomy, and responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork mindset.
• Fluent in English and ideally in French.
• Team‑oriented, with the ability to work across functions and cultures. Nice To Have
• Experience with European space standards and interaction with SSA/SDA programs.
• Familiarity with advanced cataloging techniques and tracking sensor networks. Previous involvement in international SSA initiatives or operational centers.
