Brussels, Brussels-Capital, Belgique Versile Temps plein
About Versile Insurance brokers spend a massive part of their day on administrative chores instead of advising customer and growing their business. Versile is building an AI-native broker management system that redefines how brokers work. We automate the administrative work and give brokers the tools to do proactive sales and effectively run their business, saving 20-30% compared to today. We build the product closely with insurance brokers who use it in their day-to-day work, so engineers at Versile have direct exposure to real customer problems and a strong influence on what we build.

About the role
We are looking for a Founding (Back-end) Engineer to shape, build and scale the technical foundations of Versile. You will work closely with Emiel (our CTO) to turn customer and product requirements into robust, reliable and secure technical solutions. You will have significant ownership over our backend architecture, infrastructure, and engineering practices. Some of the problems you will work on include: building reliable event-driven workflows, integrating with external systems (insurance company networks), defining authorization and API security, and making sure that the platform can be operated securely and reliably in the regulated market of financial intermediaries. Responsibilities
• Design, building and scaling core back-end capabilities of Versile
• Translate customer and product requirements into technical architecture
• Make pragmatic technical trade-offs together with the CTO
• Design API, authentication, authorization and integration patterns
• Own parts of our cloud infrastructure, deployment and observability stack
• Shape engineering standards and technical culture as the team grows Requirements We are looking for at least 2-3 years of relevant experience, though demonstrated ownership matters more than absolute years of experience. You’ll be a good fit if you have:
• Experience in building and maintaining SaaS applications in production
• Strong backend engineering skills and a good understanding of system and database design
• Familiarity with Docker, IaaS and observability tooling
• A pragmatic, hands-on approach and comfortable in operating in an early-stage environment Our backend is primarily Typescript, using technologies like Fastify, Drizzle and Effect, and we run on Azure. Experience with this stack is a plus, but not an absolute requirement. Further full-stack experience (React, Next.js, …) is a bonus. Our offer
• Significant ownership over the architecture of a product being launched from the ground up
• Opportunity to work directly with customers and see the impact of what you build
• A small, dynamic (and above all, fun) team with fast decision-making and no bureaucracy
• Competitive compensation
• Stock options
• Flexibility in how you work
• We generously allow you to win at table tennis at least once per month
