The Universidad del Sagrado Corazón AmeriCorps VISTA Project strengthens organizational and community capacity to reduce poverty by developing sustainable food security, nutrition, and community resilience systems that serve economically disadvantaged individuals and families in Santurce. Through capacity-building efforts, the project expands access to nutritious food, healthy lifestyle education, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships while strengthening initiatives such as CoMesa, Huerto Sagrado, and the Solidarity Pantry. The Food and Resilience Systems VISTA serves at Centro Sofía, where the member coordinates the Solidarity Food Pantry by supporting food collection, receiving, sorting, inventory management, storage, volunteer coordination, and food distribution systems. The member also develops resource management tools, operational procedures, volunteer training materials, educational resources, partnership frameworks, outreach strategies, and evaluation systems that strengthen food security, healthy lifestyles, and community resilience. These sustainable systems and resources will strengthen the long-term capacity of the Solidarity Food Pantry and remain available to future AmeriCorps VISTA members, staff, volunteers, and community partners, increasing access to nutritious food, expanding community partnerships, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting long-term anti-poverty and community resilience efforts Further help on this page can be found by clicking here . Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will strengthen food security and community resilience by coordinating the Solidarity Food Pantry and developing sustainable systems that expand access to nutritious food for economically disadvantaged individuals and families. The member will coordinate food collection, receiving, sorting, inventory management, storage, volunteer engagement, and food distribution activities while developing operational procedures, resource management tools, and sustainability systems. The member will also support the coordination of CoMesa and Huerto Sagrado initiatives, develop nutrition and healthy lifestyle educational resources, strengthen partnerships with food banks, businesses, and community organizations, coordinate volunteers, organize food drives and community outreach activities, and create evaluation and knowledge management resources that support long-term organizational capacity and future AmeriCorps VISTA members Program
