Join ACR+, the Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management The Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management (ACR+) is an international network of around 80 members with the shared aim of promoting circular economy on territories, including the sustainable consumption of resources and the management of waste through prevention at source, reuse, recycling and, as a last priority, energy recovery.

About the Role
ACR+ is looking for an EU Policy Officer (paid internship) The successful candidate will be part of the ACR+ Secretariat team in Brussels, reporting to the Secretary General We are looking for a pro-active and detail-oriented EU Policy Officer to join our team. This role offers valuable insight into the position of Policy Officer within a European network of public authorities, preparing you for future roles in public affairs or EU institutions. As part of the EU Policy team, the successful candidate will support their work in analysing, centralising and disseminating European policy developments related to ACR+ activities and thematic areas. Responsibilities
• Support the drafting and dissemination of relevant EU news across internal channels, the ACR+ website and the weekly and quarterly publications
• Support the drafting of factsheets about legislation relevant to ACR+ activities and thematic areas
• Support the writing of topical briefings on relevant political debates
• Contribute to improvements to the policy monitoring service provided to our members
• Supporting ongoing projects at ACR+ such as the European Week of Waste Reduction.
• Assist the drafting of responses to European public consultations relating to circularity. Your
experience:
what you’ll gain You will contribute to ACR+’s mission to support European local and regional authorities in understanding EU policies to support their transition to a circular economy through:
• Hands-on
experience:
Engage directly in policy work across various European policies and topics related to ACR+ activities while discovering the day-to-day work of a network.
• Professional growth: Develop expertise in drafting news, factsheets and briefings under the guidance of experienced policy officers at a critical period for circular economy legislation.
• Insight into European affairs: Acquire a deeper understanding of EU policy work, EU-funded projects, sustainability topics, and the workings of a European network of public authorities. Develop your advocacy skills and contribute to public consultations.
• Networking opportunities: Connect with professionals, public authorities, and stakeholders from across Europe, expanding your international network and learning from diverse perspectives working on sustainable resource management.
• Inclusive work environment: Be part of a supportive and multicultural team, where collaboration, creativity, and innovation are encouraged. Qualifications
Education:
• University degree with a specialization in International Relations/EU Affairs/EU Law
• Knowledge of EU policies, especially linked to environment and/or circular economy in and advocacy is an asset
• Understanding and familiarity with the EU policy making landscape and the role of the EU institutions is an asset
Skills:
• Excellent drafting and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams Languages:
• English: native speaker or equivalent
• Any other language is an asset Other

• Interest in ACR+ themes and activities

• Place of work: ACR+ Brussels secretariat, Brussels, Belgium.
• Expected starting date: as soon as possible.
• Full time job – 6 months internship contract under Convention d’Insertion Professionnelle;
• Gross remuneration: 1300€/mois
• Please note: you must already have the legal right to live and work in the EU.
• Possibility of renewal or of employment contract at the end of the first internship period Other
