About the job Political Intelligence Brussels is seeking a Food Technology & Regulatory Policy Officer with a strong background in food science and a passion for EU food policy to join our team on a permanent contract. You will be a trusted advisor to one of our clients, a European federation representing manufacturers of bakery, confectionery and patisserie ingredients, supporting its Committee on Food Policy & Legislation and six specialist expert groups. Your role will combine technical regulatory analysis with expert group coordination, ensuring positions are scientifically sound, developed on time and ready to support advocacy. Are you looking to take the next step in your regulatory career? At Political Intelligence Brussels, you'll join a key player at EU level with 30 years of experience, and a client portfolio made up of industry leaders. You will work on dossiers that will shape how European food legislation evolves over the next five years and contribute to shaping the client's new expert group structure. If you read an EFSA opinion and immediately see what it means for ingredient manufacturers, you might be the consultant we're looking for Main

responsibilities:
* Technical Dossier Management: Track and interpret EU regulatory and scientific files (food additives, enzymes, contaminants, labelling, nutrition, sourdough and sustainability) and assess their implications for members.
* Expert Group Secretariat: Prepare the agendas of six expert groups and the Committee, lead technical discussions, synthesise member input and keep dossiers moving.
* Written Outputs: Draft position papers, consultation responses and briefing notes ready for submission to EU institutions.
* Regulatory Intelligence: Monitor the Commission (DG SANTE, DG AGRI), EFSA and the European Parliament to anticipate dossiers and emerging scientific debates.
* Advocacy Support: Translate technical positions into clear messaging and brief the Secretary General ahead of meetings with EU officials and stakeholders. What we're looking for:
* Degree in food science, food technology, nutrition, biochemistry or food regulatory affairs.
* At least 3 years of experience with a technical food policy workload (food manufacturer, ingredient supplier, regulatory body, research organisation or trade association).
* Familiarity with at least two EU frameworks: food additives, food enzymes, contaminants, allergen labelling, novel foods or food information to consumers.
* Ability to engage critically with EFSA opinions, implementing regulations and scientific literature.
* Strong organisational skills to manage several workstreams at once.
* Experience in the bakery or ingredients sector, or as secretariat to an industry expert group, is an asset.
* Fluent in English (C1); French is a plus.

What we offer
* A dynamic and collaborative work environment in a modern workspace.
* A substantive technical role at the heart of the Brussels food policy ecosystem.
* Competitive benefits, including extra vacation days, full health insurance and home-working arrangements.
* Contract: Permanent, based in Brussels. How to join us? If you recognise yourself in our description, please send us your CV and a short note (max. 200 words) to job@political-intelligence.com with reference "2619". Tell us which regulatory frameworks, expert groups and EFSA or Commission dossiers you have worked on. We value individuality, variety and diversity, so if your path to food regulatory expertise has been non-conventional, tell us that story.
