Context
AETHER is a key partner for intrapreneurial projects in Belgium, and we want to reinforce our support of key actors in the infrastructure sector, who are facing interesting challenges regarding increasing study capacity while maintaining quality and efficient ways of working.
New projects are therefore ongoing to ensure that teams can meet growing demand for studies and development plans with clear priorities and coordinated resources.
Hence why we are looking for a medior Operational Excellence Officer to strengthen our team of Project Partners.
Task Description
As an AETHER Project Partner embedded within the project team, your objective will be to build and lead a Center of Excellence and translate strategic ambitions into an operational improvement plan that helps teams work more efficiently and improves their work experience.
The department produces reference studies and faces rapidly growing demand for connection studies and more detailed development plans. Its expertise must become more widely usable while its capacity grows.
Key Responsibilities
Might Include
• Shape the roadmap: work with the department’s leadership to translate the strategic roadmap into a structured operational excellence plan and implement it.
• Steer priorities: lead quarterly planning and reprioritization, and coordinate resource planning across teams.
• Make performance visible: define KPIs, introduce a monthly dashboard and lead operational discussions that turn data into actions and decisions.
• Bring structure to key documents: design a document management system, starting with a planning pilot by the end of 2027 before department-wide deployment, to make decisions traceable and reporting transparent.
• Unlock efficiency: establish a continuous improvement framework to identify, assess and implement improvements to processes, tools and working practices, and measure their impact on efficiency and quality.
• Build the Center of Excellence: establish shared guidelines, tools and best practices, and align the department’s PMOs to avoid duplicate work.
• Deliver: lead specific departmental projects from initial idea to implementation and ensure changes become lasting working practices. Profile
• A master’s degree in engineering, including civil or commercial engineering, or economics, or equivalent experience.
• At least 4 years of operational excellence experience, including defining KPIs, building dashboards such as Power BI, optimizing processes and managing documents.
• Basic knowledge of the energy sector and the operating environment of an electricity transmission system operator.
• A drive for excellence, identifying improvement opportunities and delivering results rigorously and on time.
• A service-oriented approach to change, engaging stakeholders inside and outside the department and helping teams succeed rather than pursuing a personal agenda.
• Ability to work autonomously and flexibly, prioritize effectively, make decisions and communicate clearly with management.
• A practical, results-oriented approach, translating plans into concrete actions and delivering tangible outcomes even when requirements are not fully defined.
• Assertiveness and excellent communication skills, with good English and fluency in French or Dutch, plus at least a good understanding of the other language.
• Agreement to work in Brussels, with physical presence on site required by default 3 days per week.
• An entrepreneurial experience or ambition is a plus, including extra-professional or extra-academic activities. Our Vision Success in industry often relies on key individuals who demonstrate intrapreneurial leadership — those who continuously initiate, transform, and pursue excellence. The best way to develop this strength is through ad interim projects, i.e. working as a consultant with established intrapreneurs in international companies, to support their major expansion or improvement initiatives regarding governance, studies, or operations. Since 2014, AETHER is managing these opportunities for outstanding consultants in key international groups, as these offer greater learning opportunities with multi-million impacts. Please share your cv and we will check if this demand is the current best opportunity for your career as a consultant. INSPIRE | LEAD GROWTH | CREATE IMPACT
