Brussels The ideal candidate embraces #SustainablePublicAffairs’ mission to make the practices of sustainable frontrunners the norm for the rest of their industry. This means you are a proactive, big-picture thinker, not afraid to have an opinion, and encourage your team members to express their views. You are able to offer creative solutions to complex issues while contributing to the growth of this young, fast-growing organisation. You enjoy contributing to the organisation and developing a team. YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Client and Advisory:
• Provide strategic advice on EU public and regulatory affairs to a portfolio of sustainable frontrunner clients.
• Manage accounts and client relationships, including:
• Managing day-to-day operations and work programmes independently; act as main point of contact for clients.
• Anticipating and understanding what the client needs and translating this into unique strategies and narratives for existing and new EU policy files.
• Developing and implementing impactful EU public affairs strategies, performing regular fitness checks, identifying threats and opportunities and how best to respond.
• Providing supporting analysis for the drafting of position papers, briefings, speeches and presentations.

• Establish a strong network with policymakers, industry/trade associations, media, and others to raise the profile of clients’ issues and solutions.
• Think outside of the box and propose creative solutions to ensure client objectives are reached.
• Think ahead: consider longer-term outlook on potential future workstreams and resources. 2. People Management:
• Mentor colleagues working on your client team in terms of content and deliverables, ensuring they have the skills they need to deliver quality work.
• Be the go-to person for team members to advise on day-to-day responsibilities and broader professional development.
• Safeguard the general wellbeing of colleagues, actively propose ideas to improve teamwork. 3. Support broader #SustainablePublicAffairs activities:
• Be a well-known name in your network for content expertise and expand this network through e.g. public speaking, publishing thought-leadership pieces, moderating events.
• Seek out new business leads and collaborate with management on business development activities such as proposal preparation, delivery and contract (re-)negotiations.
• Encourage and embody a collaborative, knowledge-sharing mindset. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
• University degree or equivalent.
• 5 to 7 years of public affairs work experience on EU policy, with an expertise and strong interest in (sustainable) finance, energy and climate policy files, managing a portfolio of clients.
• A solid knowledge of EU decision-making processes and the political and regulatory landscape within the EU.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written; any additional European language will be considered as a plus.
• An analytical mind able to translate technical content into easily understandable summaries and recommendations, enjoying delving into the detail whilst seeing the big picture.
• Robust skills in managing stakeholder relationships and engaging at all levels effectively.
• A broad network within the EU environment.
• A proven track record of managing a team and individuals, mentoring, coaching and challenging them, contributing to their professional growth.
• A quick learner with a positive, highly efficient work attitude who can easily switch from working in a team to working independently, with the willingness and interest to work on a range of other topics.
• Hardworking, willing to go the extra mile, and quality-focused with a keen eye for detail.
