Company Description Snapp Ocean Data Solutions is a technology-focused organization dedicated to advancing ocean data collection and analysis. The company designs and deploys innovative hardware and software solutions to support marine research, environmental monitoring, and commercial maritime applications. By combining engineering expertise with data science, Snapp Ocean Data Solutions helps stakeholders make informed decisions about ocean resources and ecosystems. Team members collaborate across disciplines to build robust, reliable systems that perform in demanding marine environments. Role Description This full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role is based in Hong Kong SAR. The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop mechanical components and systems for ocean data collection platforms, including structures, housings, and mechanisms suitable for marine environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating detailed CAD models and drawings, performing mechanical calculations and simulations, and iterating designs based on testing and feedback. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electronics and sensors, supporting prototyping and assembly, and participating in field deployment and troubleshooting. The Mechanical Engineer will also contribute to project planning, documentation, and continuous improvement of design standards and processes. Qualifications
• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to real-world marine and environmental applications.
• Proficiency in Machine Design, including component selection, mechanism design, and durability considerations for harsh operating conditions.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, detailed drawings, and design revisions.
• Capability in Project Management, including planning tasks, coordinating with team members, and meeting deadlines in a structured workflow.
• Experience in Research and Development (R&D), such as concept exploration, prototyping, testing, and iterating designs based on data.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Ability to work on-site in Hong Kong SAR and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Good communication skills, attention to detail, and a systematic approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with marine or environmental systems, finite element analysis (FEA), or materials selection for corrosion resistance is an advantage.
