I'm working with a leading international group operating across construction products, specialty coatings and building materials, who are looking to strengthen their Belgian finance team with a GL Accountant . This is an opportunity to join an established multinational where you can develop your technical accounting expertise today, while building towards opportunities in corporate tax, treasury, team leadership or even international positions in the future. - Genuine long-term career opportunities within an international group, including the potential to move into corporate tax, treasury, people management or roles abroad. What will you be doing? You'll play an important role in the accounting operations of the Belgian entities, working across general ledger activities, month-end closing and financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and reviewing general ledger transactions and journal entries.
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Working with the international shared-service team in India, reviewing completed work and helping maintain the quality of the Belgian entities' accounts.
- Supporting audits, internal controls and ongoing process improvements.
- Collaborating with colleagues across finance and the wider business. Who are they looking for?
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable/receivable and some hands-on general ledger experience.
- A solid understanding of month-end closing, reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
- Someone analytical, organised and comfortable taking ownership of their work.
- Fluent Dutch and good English. The team is open to candidates with particularly strong profiles and excellent English, even if their Dutch isn't quite at the required level.
