Role Description
This full-time on-site Reporter role at Proactify® is based in Brussels. The Reporter will identify and develop news stories, conduct interviews, verify facts, and produce timely, accurate coverage across assigned beats. Daily responsibilities include attending press events and briefings, monitoring local and international developments, and collaborating with editors to refine story angles and meet deadlines. The role also involves creating multimedia content such as photos, short videos, and social media posts to enhance storytelling and audience engagement. The Reporter will work closely with the newsroom team to maintain editorial standards, adhere to ethical guidelines, and contribute to the continuous improvement of Proactify®’s news output.
Qualifications
- Strong reporting and news writing skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and present information clearly and accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conduct interviews and build sources.
- Proficiency in writing for different formats and platforms, adapting tone and style to print, web, and social media.
- Experience with multimedia tools and workflows, including basic photo, audio, or video creation and editing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work under deadline pressure, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Knowledge of journalistic ethics, media law basics, and fact-checking practices.
- Fluency in English; additional European languages are an asset, especially French or Dutch.
- Comfort working on-site in Brussels, engaging with local communities, institutions, and events.
- Familiarity with newsroom content management systems and common digital publishing tools is beneficial.
