At Hensafe , we are seeking an experienced, proactive, and driven Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to oversee all health, safety, and environmental operations across a major construction project in Farciennes (Charleroi region) . This key role will ensure full compliance with Belgian regulatory standards, maintain rigorous site safety protocols, and drive a proactive safety-first culture among internal teams, sub-contractors, and external stakeholders. The Role : The successful Health, Safety & Environment Manager will:
- Site Governance: Manage internal teams, contractors, and sub-contractors on-site to ensure working procedures, machinery, and daily practices strictly adhere to Belgian welfare legislation ( *Code on Well-being at Work
* ) and project-specific H&S plans.
- Safety Culture Leadership: Lead from the front in establishing and embedding an exemplary health, safety, and environmental culture where all site personnel actively engage with and commit to safe working practices.
- Risk Assessments & Safe Systems: Conduct and systematically review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), identifying gaps promptly to maintain zero-harm standards.
- Site Security & Environment: Oversee the physical security of workers and the construction site at all times, while ensuring full compliance with environmental regulations (waste management, noise, dust, and local environmental standards in Farciennes).
- Training & Instruction: Organise and deliver comprehensive site inductions, toolbox talks, and specialized HSE training courses across all levels of the project workforce.
- Constructive Challenge & Root-Cause Analysis: Challenge existing site practices constructively, conduct root-cause investigations into near-misses and incidents, and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance. The Candidate : The successful Health, Safety & Environment Manager will have:
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Belgian Health, Safety, and Environmental regulatory frameworks ( *Code du Bien-être au Travail / Codex over het Welzijn op het Werk
* ) and construction safety standards.

Qualifications:
Safety Advisor qualification ( *Conseiller en Prévention Niveau 1 ou 2 / Preventieadviseur Niveau 1 of 2
* ) or NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Management Systems: Solid experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management); Auditor qualification highly regarded.
- Industry

Experience:
Proven track record as an HSE Manager within the Construction, Civil Engineering, or Infrastructure sectors.
- Language

Requirements:
Working proficiency in English (for internal/corporate reporting) alongside French (essential for site operations and local stakeholder interaction in Charleroi).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to influence site management, trade contractors, and external inspection bodies. The Offer :
