About Man & Science
Man & Science
is an innovative Belgian
MedTech
company developing novel neuromodulation solutions for patients suffering from severe headache disorders.
The company is currently advancing a minimally invasive implantable neurostimulation system combining electronic and mechanical components. As Man & Science prepares for its next clinical and commercial development stages, we are looking for a
Senior Process Engineer
to build and secure the manufacturing processes required to scale the technology.
Your role
As
Senior Process Engineer
, you will take ownership of the industrialization of our implantable device and its external components.
This is not a high-volume production role: you will
build the processes, select the right manufacturing partners and ensure that the product can be manufactured reliably, reproducibly and at the right cost
.
Most manufacturing activities are outsourced to specialized partners in Europe and internationally, making close technical collaboration with suppliers a key part of the role.
Your main responsibilities
- Lead industrialization projects for PCBAs, mechanical components and implant-related parts , from design transfer through manufacturing readiness.
- Work closely with R&D to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input and define robust manufacturing processes.
- Act as the main technical interface with contract manufacturers on process, quality, technical changes and manufacturing issues .
- Define the manufacturing strategy, including supplier selection, second-source strategies and assessment of new technical partners .
- Plan and follow process validation and qualification , including IQ/OQ/PQ, pFMEA and control plans.
- Drive manufacturing cost optimization through DFM, process improvements and alternative technical solutions.
- Provide technical input for supplier qualification, audits and quality agreements.
- Prepare technical documentation including specifications, validation protocols and reports, and design-transfer documentation.
- Support manufacturing planning and coordinate technical requirements with supply-chain and inventory needs. Your background
- Engineering degree in electromechanical, mechanical, electrical or a related discipline .
- Approximately 5+ years of experience in industrialization, NPI, process or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience working in a regulated environment . Medical Devices / ISO 13485 / MDR experience is preferred; strong profiles from aerospace, automotive or other highly regulated industries will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience with process validation and at least one manufacturing transfer to an external contract manufacturer .
- Experience with electronics, PCBA or EMS manufacturing is a strong advantage.
- Comfortable working directly with suppliers on technical topics, including on-site.
- Able to combine technical depth with project ownership and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset.
- Proactive and autonomous, with the ability to create structure in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Fluent in English ; French and/or Dutch are an asset. International mindset Our manufacturing partners are located internationally. You should therefore enjoy working in an international environment and be comfortable travelling approximately 20–30% of your time , sometimes with relatively short notice. The position is based in Belgium, with regular presence in Liège expected. Why join Man & Science? This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the transition of an innovative medical technology from clinical development towards commercialization. You will join a small, experienced team where you will have the autonomy to shape the manufacturing strategy, build the processes and help bring an innovative implantable therapy to patients.
