Functional Analyst – Legacy & Data Migration
About the Role
We are looking for a Functional Analyst to support the modernization of legacy and mainframe-based systems. The role focuses on analyzing existing applications, data structures and business processes and translating them into modern functional processes and data models.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze legacy/mainframe environments, applications, data structures and processes.
- Document business logic, data definitions, dependencies and business rules.
- Perform data mapping, impact analysis and data modelling.
- Develop functional processes, semantic models, integration concepts and ontologies.
- Analyze logging, audit trails and operational data.
- Support the migration of applications, processes and data to modern platforms.
- Validate migrated processes and data.
- Collaborate with business users, architects, developers, DBAs, security specialists and project managers.
- Facilitate workshops with domain experts and document requirements and outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Business and Functional Analysis.
- Experience with legacy/mainframe analysis and migration projects.
- Strong knowledge of data mapping, impact analysis and data modelling.
- Knowledge of semantic modelling and ontologies.
- Experience with logging, audit trails and operational data analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to bridge business, data, architecture and technology.
- Dutch, French and English proficiency.
Practical Information
- Start: 15 September 2026
- Duration: Until end of 2026, extendable
- Workload: Full-time (40 hours/week)
- Location: Brussels
- Work model: Hybrid – minimum 2 days per week onsite
