Freelance Senior Test Engineer, UI Testing and API Automation

Who are we?

This position is situated in an organisation serving the Belgian notary sector. It provides notary offices and their employees with legal expertise, management advice, IT solutions, training and information for the general public.

Within its ICT service unit, software is developed and delivered for various notary domains, such as real estate, enterprise and family matters. The team supports notaries and their customers in using digital services.

The job:

In the role of Senior Test Engineer, you check whether software performs as intended from a technical as well as functional point of view. Your testing expertise supports the software design and delivery team.

Your responsibilities include functional and non-functional testing, end-to-end testing with external partners from integration through qualification, and assisting end users during acceptance testing. You also help enhance testing processes and put quality assurance practices into operation.

You report to the Software Team Leader and collaborate closely with functional analysts, developers and engineers in the operations department. The position covers automated API testing alongside manual and automated UI testing.

• Establish the test strategy.
• Assess business requests and analysis documents.
• Prepare and perform test cases, scenarios and test plans.
• Track defects and issues, and produce test reports.
• Automate test cases with the tools best suited to the technology and testing requirements.
• Assist the teams involved and contribute to estimating the test effort and test planning needed for projects.
• Enhance testing processes and deliverables.

Your profile

You have worked as a senior IT automation test engineer and fulfil the requirements below.

Technical skills... You have...

• A bachelor's degree or a higher qualification.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in software testing, covering both manual and automated testing.
• Background in manual UI testing, API testing and test strategy definition.
• Extensive knowledge of testing processes and methodologies. An ISTQB certification is an asset.
• Experience testing Java services, web services, REST APIs and proxy services, together with open standards including XML, XSD and WSDL.
• Strong experience in analysing and modelling complex processes and workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Jira and the Xray plug-in, ReadyAPI and Playwright.
• Experience operating in Agile environments.
• Experience using Groovy scripting or an equivalent technology.
• Knowledge of OWASP Security Verification practices.
• Knowledge of public administration systems is an asset.

Timing

Selection process

There are two interview rounds in the selection process. The first consists of a one-hour Teams meeting with the line manager and HR. The second is a one-hour technical interview conducted onsite.
