Public Policy Manager, EU, Amazon Brussels Public Policy Team

Amazon's EU Public Policy team is looking for a Public Policy Manager to join its Brussels-based team. This role will drive Amazon's engagement with EU and national policymakers and stakeholders on a wide range of economic policy issues. The successful candidate brings established relationships with decision-makers in Brussels and EU member state capitals, and a proven track record as an effective advocate.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead Amazon's external engagement on EU policy files affecting Amazon's businesses, working independently with limited guidance.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior officials in EU institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, Council of the EU), national governments, and relevant trade and industry associations across a range of policy areas.
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies on legislative and non-legislative initiatives affecting Amazon's businesses, such as fiscal and customs frameworks, while also engaging on broader regulatory and economic policy developments relevant to our operations in Europe.
- Represent Amazon before external stakeholders and coalitions, serving as a credible and trusted advocate for Amazon's policy positions.
- Monitor, analyze, and translate complex policy developments into clear, actionable analysis and recommendations for senior Amazon leaders, ensuring visibility across the full spectrum of issues that impact our operations in Europe.
- Partner with legal, communications, compliance, and business teams to drive successful policy campaigns and ensure alignment on cross-business priorities.
- Contribute to team-wide mechanisms and best practices that improve the EU Public Policy team's effectiveness, scalability, and coordination across policy portfolios and the region.
- Play an active role in hiring and developing Public Policy talent within the overall public policy team in the region.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Substantial experience in public affairs, lobbying, or government relations, including direct engagement with EU and national policymakers.
- Demonstrated track record of campaign development and execution influencing policy outcomes.
- Established network of senior-level contacts within EU institutions or member state governments, particularly across finance ministries, the EU Commission Directorate- General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD), or trade bodies.
- Ability to operate independently on complex, ambiguous policy files where the problem, plan, or strategy is not predefined.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal); additional EU language an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Public Policy, Economics, Law or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Direct experience on EU or multilateral tax policy (e.g., digital services tax, Pillar Two, VATreform), customs regulation, or trade agreements.
- Familiarity with the legislative processes of the European Commission, Council, and Parliament on fiscal and trade matters.
- Experience working with or inside a global company's government affairs function.
- Ability to engage credibly with technical subject matter (e.g., legislative texts, regulatory filings) while keeping strategic advocacy objectives in focus
