Sector Group Manager, Biocides for Europe

Cefic is looking for a Manager to join the Biocides for Europe sector group within the Specialty Chemicals industry sector.

The right candidate will act as a project manager, represent Biocides for Europe in various EU bodies and/or ECHA committees and deliver the needed results in time.

Inspired? you will:

Provide support to several Biocides for Europe working groups with representatives of industry (chemical companies, members of Cefic); Coordinate and manage projects in response to key issues in the area of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR); Develop position papers, based on industry comments, for presentation at Authority discussions; Report back to Industry members on key topics including early warning on upcoming issues; Be involved in guidance development with ECHA (European Chemical Agency) and OECD; Develop, agree and implement with the member companies a strategy to deal with several issues (e.g. BPR Evaluation and potential BPR Revision); Have regular contacts with the EU and Member State authorities;

Are you the right candidate?

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional who demonstrates the following experience, competencies and personal qualities:

Academic background: preferably MA or MSc in Science, Law or Public Affairs A minimum of 2 years’ experience working at European/international level on regulatory and scientific aspects Professional experience in the chemical industry and/or with associations similar to Cefic is a definite plus; Good knowledge of the Biocidal Products Regulation is highly desired. Knowledge of REACH/CLP is an asset; Excellent project management skills Strong advocacy skills and experience with EU regulatory framework and in particular with chemical legislation such as REACH. Analytical thinker, at ease with scientific discussions. Ability to write clear and concise texts translating communication from authorities into actions for the members. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate and solve conflicts. Motivated to represent the voice of industry and influence policy and guidance. Full professional proficiency in English and at least one other European language; additional languages are a definite asset. Team player who can work independently and take initiatives when needed in a multi-functional and multicultural team while demonstrating dedication and loyalty. Curious mind and eagerness to learn and grow within the Specialty Chemicals Industry Sector. Motivation to travel occasionally (up to 20%). Prepared to live in Belgium (Brussels)
