Position overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Formulation Technician to join our composites team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing resin formulations, supporting laboratory experiments, conducting physical and chemical testing, and analysing test results to support product development and process optimization.
The candidate will work closely with chemists, materials scientists, and application engineers, contributing to the development of innovative resin systems for advanced composite applications. Responsibilities
- Prepare and optimize resin formulations according to defined recipes, test plans, and experimental requirements.
- Support laboratory experiments and perform physical, mechanical, thermal, rheological, and chemical testing of resin systems.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and analytical equipment while preparing samples and test specimens.
- Record, analyse, and report experimental data, test results, and formulation performance to support product development.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, proper chemical handling, and support scale-up and validation activities from lab to production.
Required skills and experience
- Hands-on experience in chemical laboratories, formulation development, and materials testing, preferably with resins, polymers, adhesives, coatings, or composite materials.
- Strong knowledge of resin characterization, laboratory test methods, analytical techniques, and operation of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Proven ability to accurately prepare formulations, execute experimental procedures, and maintain high standards of data quality and documentation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to laboratory safety and chemical handling practices, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory data management systems.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, vocational qualification, or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years of relevant laboratory experience in chemical formulation, resin development, materials testing, or a related technical environment.
