Overview

We have a requirement for an Energy Marshall for a large construction site

Responsibilities

Act as an assurance role that helps ensure vendors’ and contractors’ energy isolation programme meets or exceeds our safety policy requirements.

Utilize international best practice as the baseline and foundation of the energy isolation programme that is implemented throughout the campus and projectEstablish and manage an energy isolation assurance process and work with site teams to close any gaps identified in assurance audits.
Participate in high risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolationEnsure approval process for proposed energy isolation procedures is in placeWork with the authorizing energy marshal to establish an energy isolation permit processEnsures SOWs, MOPs, and scripts are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identifiedHelp determine if a group or individual LOTO will be required. Establish with the authorizing energy marshal a centralized LOTO with all site entitiesEnsure process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel performing the workEnergy isolation program plan: Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates throughout the projectCommunicates and provides guidance on energy isolation program documentsConfirms authorizing and performing roles are in placeEstablishes acceptance criteria for authorizing authority’s site energy isolation planEnergy isolation assurance:Audits and findings to include inspections, issues, deficiencies, and best practices within energy isolation programReport highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation programDelegate alternates that are qualified to assume role during multi-shift and peak energization time framesLiaise operations where energy isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.
Act in coordination with the authorizing energy marshal as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibilityServe as an independent authority for stopping all unsafe work practices regarding energy isolation
Qualifications

Experience in construction and commissioning standards and practicesProven ability to interact with teams and implement improvementsConstruction Controlling Energy MarshalAbility to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers and non-engineersAbility to audit site practices against written standards as part of assurance roleStrong ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure design of LOTO systems is 100% effective and in compliance with Microsoft standardsFamiliar with multiple sources of energy in data center construction with emphasis on electricalCollege/university/professional degree in Electrical, Industrial, Process Engineering, or related workExperience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructureStrong experience with the operation and maintenance of building MEP systems. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, and controls systems)Established understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentationPractical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks
