Build the backbone of Europe's EV charging ecosystem.
At Optimile, we are building the future of e-mobility.
We develop digital solutions that empower Charging Point Operators (CPOs) and Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver seamless, reliable and scalable EV charging experiences across Europe.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for a QA Automation Engineer who combines a sharp eye for quality with strong technical skills and a passion for test automation.
If you enjoy building reliable automated test suites, identifying issues before they reach production and continuously improving how software quality is ensured, we'd love to meet you.
Your role
As a QA Automation Engineer, you'll be a key contributor within one of our cross-functional squads, taking ownership of quality from requirements through to production.
Test automation will be at the core of your role. You'll take an active role in developing, maintaining and expanding our automated testing capabilities, with Playwright as a key tool in our testing approach.
You'll work closely with your Tech Lead, Product Owner and fellow engineers to ensure that quality is built into every stage of development.
Beyond writing automated tests, you'll challenge assumptions, identify risks, improve test coverage and help shape a scalable, efficient and reliable testing approach.
While hands-on functional and exploratory testing remain part of the job, your main focus will be on driving test automation forward and making it an integral part of our engineering practices.
What you'll do
- Design, develop and maintain automated test suites using Playwright.
- Expand and improve automated test coverage across our applications, with a focus on UI, end-to-end and regression testing.
- Build reliable, maintainable and reusable automated tests that support continuous development and deployment.
- Integrate and optimize automated tests within our CI/CD pipelines.
- Identify opportunities to replace repetitive manual testing with efficient automation.
- Design and execute functional, integration and exploratory tests where needed.
- Investigate, reproduce and clearly document defects, following them through to resolution.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to translate requirements into clear, testable scenarios.
- Advocate for testability, clear acceptance criteria and strong QA practices.
- Proactively identify quality risks, test coverage gaps and opportunities to improve our testing strategy.
- Share your automation expertise and help make quality a shared responsibility across the team.
What we're looking for
Must-have
- You live and work in Belgium.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience.
- Professional proficiency in English. Dutch is a bonus.
- Proven hands-on experience in software test automation, including designing, developing and maintaining automated test suites.
- Practical experience with Playwright and the ability to independently create and maintain automated tests using this framework.
- Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript for writing automated tests.
- Solid understanding of test design, regression testing, end-to-end testing, edge cases and risk-based testing.
- Experience testing web applications and APIs (e.g. REST).
- A structured, analytical and detail-oriented mindset, with the persistence to investigate root causes.
- A proactive approach, strong ownership and a genuine drive to continuously improve quality through automation.
Nice to have
- Experience with additional test automation frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium or REST-assured.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with API test automation and performance testing.
- Experience working in modern Agile product teams.
- Experience improving or scaling an existing test automation framework.
Why Optimile
- Meaningful challenges with real-world impact.
- The opportunity to take ownership of test automation and help shape our QA approach.
- High ownership and autonomy within your squad.
- Modern engineering practices with a strong focus on quality and automation.
- Close collaboration with experienced Product, Design and Engineering colleagues.
