What you will do
- Design and industrialise Azure Cosmos DB solutions, including data modelling, partitioning, indexing and performance optimisation.
- Build reusable database deployment patterns and automate provisioning and operations using PowerShell, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve monitoring, reliability, security and cost efficiency across Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL and SQL Server platforms.
- Implement secure, automated data refresh and anonymisation processes for non-production environments.
- Strengthen database governance, backup and recovery, and GDPR-compliant data protection.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues, document operational standards and support platform modernisation.
- Coach colleagues and transfer knowledge to enable independent platform operations.
What you bring
- A degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 7 years of hands-on SQL Server database administration or database engineering experience.
- Practical production experience designing, implementing and supporting Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Strong knowledge of NoSQL data modelling, partitioning, indexing and performance optimisation.
- Hands-on automation experience with PowerShell, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Azure security, identity and access management, networking, monitoring, backup and recovery.
- Experience with database performance troubleshooting and secure data masking, anonymisation or equivalent data protection practices.
