Senior Mainframe Software Engineer
Location: Hybrid - Brussels or Paris
Contract: 12 months + ext
Start: October 2026
Role
We’re looking for a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer with strong hands-on development experience who can also design and implement scalable solutions. You’ll work across complex mainframe systems, own features end-to-end, troubleshoot production issues and contribute to modernisation and automation initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong Software Engineering, system architecture and solution design experience.
- Hands-on experience with PL/1, SQL, DB2 Stored Procedures, PL/SQL, JCL and CICS, including CICS Web Services.
- Strong experience with Mainframe DB2, VSAM and relational databases.
- Experience with File Manager, SPUFI, QMF, Fault Analyzer, Git, CI/CD, APIs, MQ Series, Linux, SOAP UI and Z/OS Connect.
- Strong production troubleshooting, including logs, monitoring and enterprise application monitoring tools.
- Experience with advanced Git workflows, testing/quality standards, secure coding and dependency best practices.
- Experience with cloud migration, AI integration, automation, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD.
- Ability to analyse business requirements and technical impact, design scalable solutions and take end-to-end ownership.
- Good knowledge of Agile methodologies and strong English.
Nice to Have
- Experience within Credit Management, Payments, Treasury or Banking Operations.
- Mainframe modernisation/migration experience, including legacy and modern platform integration.
- Background in Machine Learning, Data Science or Generative AI.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
