About Us
Zymofix is a dynamic and innovative scale-up dedicated to fostering sustainable and circular agriculture. We specialize in creating effective and economically viable microbial products designed to reduce farmers' reliance on agrochemicals while maintaining high productivity. Positioned at the forefront of sustainable agriculture, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower farmers to grow healthy crops and improve yields without resorting to chemical fertilizers. Zymofix is planning the construction of an industrial-scale demonstration plant in 2027.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a Project Engineer with a critical mindset to reinforce our engineering team. You will be responsible for:
- Project execution & follow-up: Oversee and follow up on the execution of small- and large-scale engineering projects from conception to completion. Most notably the construction of our new industrial-scale demo plant. You’ll work closely with, and supported by, our external engineering partner who handles the detailed engineering, contractor selection, and tendering. You keep a close eye on progress, quality, and budget, since final decision-making stays with Zymofix.
- Stakeholder & partner management: Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners, engineers, and contractors, acting as a key point of contact and coordinator to keep everyone aligned and projects running smoothly.
- Demo industrial plant construction: Co-prepare and guide the construction of the new demo industrial facility for micro-organism production.
- Production run coordination: Organize and coordinate production runs carried out with our external partner in Spain, arranging transport and communication.
- Relocation management: Help prepare and lead the relocation and scale-up of current operational activities to our new site. For example, contributing to the layout and flow of the new facility, in close consultation with other internal departments.

- Experience in process engineering and project management; biochemical process know-how (process and equipment design at industrial scale) is a plus.
- Strong technical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable collaborating with and reporting to internal and external parties.
- Experience managing contractors and other third parties, supported by a broad professional network.
- A structured way of working, able to keep a helicopter view while staying on top of the details, with a drive to deliver on ambitious timelines.
- A proactive coordinator who spots problems early and works to resolve them.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written; fluency in Dutch is a plus.
- The role requires strong technical and problem-solving skills, a high degree of independence, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team. You draw energy from collective success.
