Senior Mechanical Engineer

ppWe're currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take a leading role in the design and development of complex machines and mechanical systems. You will be involved throughout the full machine development lifecycle, from initial concepts and feasibility studies through detailed design, prototyping, testing, commissioning, and transfer into production. /p pThis is a hands‑on engineering role with a strong focus on machine design. You will develop mechanical solutions for machines, mechanisms, structures, assemblies, and moving systems, taking ownership of designs from the initial concept through to a fully functioning machine. You will need to balance technical performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and ease of assembly while solving practical engineering challenges. /p pAs a senior member of the team, you will take technical ownership of complex machine design projects and provide guidance to other engineers. You will work closely with electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to ensure that the mechanical design integrates effectively with the complete machine. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liLead the mechanical design and development of machines and complex mechanical systems from concept through to production. /li liDevelop machine concepts and mechanical architectures based on functional and technical requirements. /li liDesign mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, structures, frames, drives, fixtures, and moving components. /li liCreate detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings. /li liSelect appropriate materials, mechanical components, actuators, bearings, drives, and other machine elements. /li liCarry out mechanical calculations and analysis to validate designs, including loads, stresses, tolerances, and mechanical performance. /li liDesign and optimise mechanisms for movement, positioning, handling, and automation. /li liDevelop prototypes and support machine build, testing, and commissioning activities. /li liTroubleshoot mechanical issues during development, testing, installation, and production. /li liOptimise machine designs for reliability, manufacturability, assembly, maintenance, and cost. /li liWork closely with manufacturing and suppliers on machining, fabrication, component selection, and assembly requirements. /li liCollaborate with electrical, controls, software, and other engineering disciplines to deliver complete machines. /li liSupport design reviews, risk assessments, testing, and validation activities. /li liCreate and maintain technical documentation, drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other engineering documentation. /li liIdentify opportunities to improve existing machines, mechanisms, and engineering processes. /li liProvide technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced mechanical engineers. /li liTake ownership of mechanical engineering activities and contribute to key technical decisions throughout projects. /li /ul h3Your Profile /h3 ul liBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. /li liSignificant professional experience in mechanical engineering and machine design. /li liProven experience designing machines, mechanisms, or complex mechanical assemblies. /li liStrong experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks; experience with other CAD packages is also considered. /li liStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and assembly. /li liExperience with moving mechanisms, automation, machinery, or electromechanical systems. /li liExperience taking machine designs from concept through to prototype, testing, and production. /li liStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a practical, hands‑on approach. /li liExperience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams. /li liComfortable taking technical ownership and making engineering decisions. /li liExperience with pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, actuators, or other machine technologies is an advantage. /li liStrong communication skills and the ability to provide technical guidance to other engineers. /li /ul h3The Offer: /h3 ul liA salary benefits package commensurate with experience /li /ul /p
