Data Modeller & Architect – Brussels (Freelance)We are looking for a Data Modeller & Architect to support our customer in Brussels in establishing a common data model, modelling approach and governance framework.
They has several data set-ups operating independently across different areas. The objective is to establish a consistent approach while accounting for specific business requirements and variations.
The immediate priority is to develop the conceptual data model, using the existing model where relevant and building new elements where required. The role will also define the standards, principles and roadmap for progressing towards logical and physical modelling.
A Data Governance initiative is underway, but the implementation framework and roadmap still need to be defined. Reporting is also an important part of the context, with the organisation receiving a significant number of reporting requests.
The role will work with a small internal team, establishing modelling and governance practices and coaching stakeholders. The freelancer will define the model, standards and approach that the permanent team will take forward. ResponsibilitiesAssess and develop the existing conceptual data model, combining existing work with new modelling where required.
Translate business processes, requirements and reporting needs into a common conceptual data model.
Define entities, relationships, attributes and business definitions.
Identify common data structures across business areas and document relevant variations.
Establish data modelling standards, principles and governance processes.
Define the roadmap from conceptual to logical and physical data modelling.
Determine database and data architecture requirements.
Work with business and technical stakeholders to validate the model.
Coach the internal team in data modelling and governance practices.
ProfileExperience as a Data Modeller / Data Architect, with expertise in conceptual and logical data modelling.
Experience establishing data modelling standards, frameworks and governance practices.
Experience progressing from conceptual modelling towards logical and physical implementation.
International project experience is appreciated.
Experience with MySQL and Microsoft Fabric is relevant.
Knowledge of Oracle is useful, particularly for legacy environments.
