Batia Mosa is an established Belgian shipyard located in Andenne, specializing in the construction, conversion, and repair of inland waterway and service vessels. To shape the future of sustainable maritime transport, Batia Mosa has launched an internal clean-tech venture dedicated to developing modular, high-performance battery systems for hybrid and electric vessels.

The venture has recently secured two major multi-year innovation programs (funded by regional and European initiatives for zero-emission shipping). Our R&D engineers and Batia Mosa’s shipbuilding experts work side by side on the same site to build, certify, and commercialize this technology.

To lead the further growth and day-to-day management of this internal startup, we are recruiting an entrepreneurial Operations & Business Lead with commercial drive and technical insight.

YOUR MISSION

As the operational leader of the internal venture, you will take charge of daily management, operational progress, and commercial development. You will act as the key liaison between the engineering team on the shipyard, Batia Mosa’s executive management, external maritime clients, and funding bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Operations & Leadership: Drive the daily activities of the internal venture. Oversee project schedules, streamline supply chain and logistics, and ensure the team operates efficiently.

  • Commercial Development & Market Expansion: Actively identify new business opportunities within the maritime sector. Build and nurture relationships with shipowners, operators, and partners to bring our battery systems to market.

  • Project & Grant Portfolio Management: Ensure the execution and delivery of secured multi-year funded programs (EU and SPW/regional). Track milestones, manage budgets, and oversee administrative and financial reporting.

  • Shipyard Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team and Batia Mosa's shipyard management to ensure smooth integration of prototypes and transition to serial production.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Background & Education: Bachelor / Master’s degree in Engineering (Business Engineering, Electromechanics, Energy, Innovation) or a Business / Economics

  • Knowledge & Affinity: Strong interest or background in renewable energy, battery technology, electrification, or the maritime/industrial sector.

  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Proactive, hands-on, and opportunity-driven. You possess the pragmatism of a startup founder combined with the organizational skills to keep projects structured.

  • Commercial & Communication Skills: Strong negotiation and networking capabilities. You feel equally comfortable presenting to shipowners and funding bodies as you do collaborating with engineers on the shipyard floor.

  • Languages: Fluent in French (for daily local operations and shipyard collaboration) and English (for international partnerships and program reporting), Dutch is a plus.

OUR OFFER

  • Entrepreneurship with Solid Backing: The autonomy, speed, and impact of building an innovative venture, supported by the financial strength, manufacturing infrastructure, and stability of Batia Mosa Shipyard.

  • Commercial & Technical Leadership: A key role driving the energy transition in the maritime industry. xlxgzvr

  • Secured Multi-Year Projects: Fully-funded innovation dossiers ready for immediate execution.
