Troubleshooting Scientist – Materials Characterization

About the Role

To join a well known biopharmaceutical company in a long term consultancy position, we are recruiting a Troubleshooting Scientist. In this role, you will play a key role in investigating manufacturing and development issues, with a strong focus on the identification and characterization of foreign particles found in pharmaceutical products and packaging materials. Your scientific conclusions will contribute to critical quality and batch release decisions.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with manufacturing, development, and quality experts to rapidly resolve technical challenges and ensure patient safety and product quality.

What You'll Do

• Receive, prepare, and analyze samples related to manufacturing investigations
• Isolate and characterize foreign particles using advanced analytical techniques
• Perform analyses using:
• Optical Microscopy
• Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
• Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX)
• Material characterization techniques
• Interpret analytical results and provide scientific conclusions
• Support troubleshooting activities linked to manufacturing and development issues
• Document findings in electronic systems and databases
• Write clear technical reports in English
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with procedures and quality standards
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support business-critical investigations

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in an analytical environment
• Practical experience with Optical Microscopy
• Experience using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)
• Knowledge of elemental analysis techniques such as EDX
• Experience in sample preparation, including particle isolation and microscopy sample preparation
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to work under time pressure xlxgzvr and adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent attention to detail and strong compliance mindset
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Fluent French
• Ability to write technical scientific reports in English

Nice to Have

• Experience within the pharmaceutical industry
• Knowledge of additional characterization techniques such as:
• Raman Spectroscopy
• Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy
• Laser Diffraction
• Spectrocolorimetry
• Other materials science characterization methods
• Experience with SEM sample coating and preparation techniques
• Curiosity, scientific rigor, and willingness to learn new analytical technologies
