For our HQ in Antwerp we are looking for an Accounting Manager

Job Description

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Cluster Benelux Finance Director and leads the Benelux accounting team (10 FTEs). The current accounting function is, to a large extent, still decentralized and organized around the different legal entities within the cluster (13 in total). The Accounting Manager role will be pivotal in transforming the accounting function within the cluster and ensuring the extensive centralization of the function. This transformation implies building an engaged accounting team, increase the effectiveness of accounting processes and systems, maintain high quality reporting within the set deadlines, improve internal controls and manage full compliance with statutory requirements. The position also plays a key role in the foreseen IFRS conversion.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities :

1. Day to day accounting

• Manage the day to day accounting operations, with focus on quality and optimized processes/systems.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities.
• Implement and ensure full compliance with defined internal controls.
• Collaborate closely with Group Finance to standardize accounting processes, procedures, and documentation across all entities.

2. Monthly reporting

• Organize and oversee monthly closings and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Control the correct analytical processing (profit centers, cost centers).
• Follow up on balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Work closely together with the Business Controlling colleagues to support accurate monthly reporting.

3. Yearly Financial Statements

• Organize, prepare, and communicate yearly statutory financial statements for external audit approval and legal deposit.
• Prepare annexes for year-end closing.
• Coordinate external audit of annual accounts.
• Manage relationships with external auditors

4. Tax compliance

• Prepare / Coordinate CIT, VAT, Intrastat declarations, and official statistics.
• Manage the correct application of Transfer Pricing policies.
• Organize and prepare fiscal and tax audits.

5. Leadership & People Management

• Lead, inspire, and coach the accounting team
• Build a high-performing and service-oriented accounting department.
• Develop talent, career growth, and succession planning initiatives.
• Ensure team members have necessary competencies; initiate training where needed.

Profile, knowledge and experience

Education: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience

Languages: Fluent in English and Dutch and/or French

Skills / Experience:

• 8–10 years of professional experience, including roles in accounting and/or audit management with exposure to BE GAAP and IFRS.
• Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and statutory requirements.
• Experience in Big 4 audit firms is a strong plus.
• Experience working within a SAP, Odoo environment is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, international environment and manage multiple priorities.
