Faststream Recruitment is working with an international maritime organisation to recruit a Marine Superintendent for its infrastructure asset management team in Antwerp. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced marine professional with a strong HSEQ, cargo operations and compliance background to support the safe, efficient and commercially effective operation of specialist marine assets. The Role As Marine Superintendent, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and compliant day-to-day operation of assigned assets, while also contributing to new infrastructure projects from a Marine, Labour and HSEQ perspective. You will help ensure that Safety Management System requirements, international regulations, national legislation and industry standards are fully implemented both ashore and onboard. The role will focus on safe operations, pollution prevention, operational excellence, inspection readiness and continuous improvement across the fleet. You will work closely with onboard teams, shore-based colleagues, external stakeholders, inspectors, terminals, class, clients and project teams.

Key responsibilities
include:Providing Marine, Labour and HSEQ input to infrastructure projects, including transition into operational serviceEnsuring vessel and shore-based activities are carried out in line with the Safety Management System, internal procedures, international regulations and industry standardsSupporting safe, compliant and pollution-free operations across assigned assetsProviding functional HSEQ guidance and operational direction to onboard and shore-based teamsSetting objectives, monitoring HSEQ performance and supporting the development of onboard personnelPreparing assets for inspections, screenings and terminal acceptance processesCoordinating inspection activity, responding to observations and following up on deficienciesSupporting third-party inspections, audits, certifications and internal navigational auditsDriving continuous improvement by closing findings and proposing practical improvements at fleet and corporate levelSupporting risk management, incident investigations, energy efficiency, security matters and emergency preparednessActing as emergency duty manager and participating in the fleet emergency response team The Candidate To be considered for this role, you should have:A Master's degree in Nautical Sciences, or an equivalent maritime qualificationSTCW Management Level certificationAt least 3 years' experience in a management position onboardStrong knowledge of cargo operationsGood understanding of IMO regulations and relevant industry standards, including OCIMF and CDIPractical knowledge of mooring operations, weather forecasting and interpretationA good understanding of asset equipment, operating limitations and technical specificationsThe confidence to intervene onboard or within operational teams when Safety Management System requirements are not being metThe ability to prevent, discuss and close out observations raised by third partiesStrong communication skills, with the ability to advise onboard management and shore-based leadership on safe operationsA flexible approach to travel, including vessel visitsThe right to live and work in Belgium or the wider EUFluency in written and spoken English The Opportunity This role offers the chance to join a highly international and technically diverse maritime environment, supporting specialist assets and infrastructure projects where safety, compliance and operational performance are central to success.
