Our client, an international sustainability-focused organisation, is looking for an Account Payables / GL Accountant to join its Brussels Finance team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in the Finance team and contribute to the progressive internalisation of the Belgian accounting function.

  • Process, record and follow up on supplier invoices.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable process and ensure timely payments.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of accounting data.
  • Contribute to general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting principles and BEGAAP.
  • Monitor compliance with Belgian administrative and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and the implementation of the new accounting system.
  • Collaborate with external accountants, advisors and tax consultants.
  • Act as an internal point of contact for external accounting and tax partners.
  • Gradually take responsibility for VAT-related activities.
  • Support monthly and annual closing activities.

  • Experience: You have relevant experience in Belgian accounting, with a background in Accounts Payable, General Ledger or a combination of both. The number of years of experience is less important than your hands-on knowledge of Belgian accounting.
  • Languages: You are fluent in Dutch or French, with a preference for Dutch, and are comfortable working in English in an international environment.
  • Qualifications: You have a relevant degree or equivalent accounting background and a solid understanding of BEGAAP and Belgian accounting and administrative requirements.
