pI’m currently supporting a leading organisation in the benergy sector /b that is looking for an experienced bFreelance Senior Python Developer /b to join its software development team in Brussels. /ppThe organisation plays a key role in maintaining and developing critical energy infrastructure across Belgium and Europe and continues to invest heavily in digitalisation, monitoring platforms and reliable software solutions. /ppAs a bSenior Python Developer /b, you will contribute to the architecture, development and maintenance of business-critical applications supporting the organisation’s internal monitoring platform. /ppThe platform is responsible for monitoring the health and availability of live applications through automated synthetic checks, log monitoring and alerting mechanisms. The core monitoring and alerting engines are developed in Python, alongside several supporting monitoring scripts and services. /ppYou will work closely with software developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Architects, IT Operations and other technical stakeholders. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliDevelop, maintain and optimise Python-based applications and backend services. /liliContribute to the evolution of an internal application monitoring and alerting platform. /liliDevelop and maintain monitoring scripts, synthetic checks and log-based monitoring solutions. /liliCollaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. /liliDesign and build reliable, scalable and maintainable backend services. /liliWork with service-based and event-driven architectures. /liliTroubleshoot and resolve complex application and production issues. /liliImplement software engineering best practices around testing, security and code quality. /liliContribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. /liliWork closely with DevOps and Data Engineering teams on integrations and deployments. /liliConduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers. /liliSupport refactoring and modernisation of existing and legacy applications. /liliEnsure solutions meet the security requirements associated with business-critical infrastructure. /li /ulh3Profile /h3pWe are looking for an experienced Python Developer with a strong backend engineering background and experience building reliable production applications. /ph3Core requirements /h3ulli6+ years of professional software development experience. /lili3+ years of hands-on Python development experience. /liliExperience with bFastAPI /b or similar Python frameworks. /liliExperience with bPydantic /b or similar data-validation libraries. /liliStrong experience with bAsyncIO / asynchronous Python development /b. /liliGood knowledge of bSQL /b. /liliExperience working with bPostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational databases /b. /liliExperience with bRabbitMQ /b or comparable messaging technologies. /liliStrong understanding of service-based architectures and event-driven systems. /liliGood knowledge of software design patterns, data structures and algorithms. /liliExperience with automated testing frameworks. /liliUnderstanding of CI/CD and modern software development practices. /liliExperience troubleshooting complex production applications. /liliStrong understanding of application security and secure software development. /liliAbility to work with legacy code and contribute to refactoring initiatives. /liliExperience working within Agile development environments. /liliStrong communication and stakeholder-management skills. /liliAbility to mentor developers and provide technical guidance. /liliBachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field. /liliGood level of bDutch and/or French combined with English /b. /li /ulh3Nice to have /h3pExperience with one or more of the following would be considered an advantage: /pulliDocker and containerised applications. /liliNoSQL databases. /liliSelenium or other automated testing frameworks. /liliApplication monitoring and observability platforms. /liliExperience working within the energy, utilities or critical infrastructure sector. /li /ulpYou do not need experience with every technology listed above.
